Lol ok. We’ll see.

70 points as a floor eh. Gonna have to find more ways to score goals because he won’t beat goalies clean from 25 feet out like is used to in the dub. Doesnt have the speed of McDavid or Mack, doesn’t have the strength or reach of Matthews, doesn’t have the grittiness of Crosby. I think a lot of people will be surprised at how tough the transition will be. 55 points next year is a good season in my eyes
why not? His wrister is deadlier than 99% of the NHL already and he was 17 it doesn't matter if he was playing at Junior level the accuracy and speed doesn't magically change when he enters pro if anything he could improve even more.

Because NHL goalies are so substantially better than in the WHL. You literally can’t compare them
He didn’t play wing for Regina and won’t be playing wing in the NHL
The WHL is a kids league

Enjoy your 7 yrs with him! #UFAin7
UFA in 11 after he signs a max 8 year extension once his ELC ends. Keep dreaming if you think this is a scenario where he structures everything to GTFO as quickly as possible. He'll be like most players and get his money and play with his drafted team for the bulk of his career, unless traded.

He will be what he ends up being. As a Hawks fan I'm happy he's on the Hawks. Fans of other teams would welcome him on their team if they had the opportunity to draft him - so I couldn't care less what is stated on the internet as though it is gospel. Hilarious.

Your logic is on fire. Good point, I guess no scouts should even watch the WHL since it is a kid’s league. Can’t make any projections.
Now your just trying to put words in my mouth. But yes, the WHL is a kids league when you compare it to the NHL. He will be a great player but I don’t think he will have the same impact as Matthews and Mackinnon do right now, its not a lofty prediction. Too many people have shiny new toy syndrome. Other than last year it happens just about every draft

Why are Canadian posters obsessed with trying to convince us that Bedard is a McDavid/Crosby level prospect.

His ceiling isn’t as high as Mackinnon or Matthews who are truly elite big strong fast centers. We still don’t even know if Bedard will be a center at the next level.
This is such a bad take and I hope you acknowledge your mistake in thinking this when Bedard proves you wrong next season.

Granted he will get to see a lot of backup goalies next year because the Hawks will be terrible
I see the excuse is already built in here, I wonder if the micro stats guys are going to come up with a "well he only performed really well on backups against teams playing their 3rd game in 4 nights" type of stat?

I hope when he doesn’t go ppg as an 18 year old on easily the worst team in the NHL that everyone here acknowledges that they were wrong too
The CHL and WHL by extension produces more NHL players than any other league, what is your point
How many jump directly to the NHL and score 70 points? Its a massive transition, thats my point

I literally quoted you. You called it a kids league. I took that comment to its natural conclusion within the context of the discussion. You are weird to have a conversation with.

Sick piece but pressures on, Kid

The thing is that Bedard thrives on pressure, he has that "it quality about him the drive to be the absolute best that he can be and we have seen it so often in the last couple of years.

My bet is that he finishes closer to PPG than the 55 points you are predicting, heck I think 82 points next year is his floor assuming full health he is that good.

Nico Hischier scored 52 points in his rookie season and I love Nico as an overall excellent #2 NHL center but Bedard is way ahead of him offensively at the same point in his career.

I suggest you rethink your position here on a generational talent like Bedard his shot quality and deception is just so elite.

Lol his floor being something that one 18 year old has accomplished in almost 20 years and only been done 4 times in the history of the sport, ok. This site is madness, yet hilarious

82 as his floor seems too high an expectation for an 18 year old who as it stands won;t have a ton of help in Chicago to start his career but who knows with this kid? his shot, hockey i.q, drive and deceptive play making ability could possibly make it possible if he gets on a roll with his line mates, he is easy to play with.

55 seems too low for me no matter his age or circumstance he is coming into, I feel confident he cracks 30 goals this year right out of the gate, that shot and goal scoring instincts he has simply can't be taught and the kid has still underrated play making ability with many posters on this board,, he will produce straight away IMO, might take 4-10 games for him to really get going but this kid will figure out how to leverage his considerable gifts quickly, he always has.

I'd split the difference and call somewhere between 65-70 for points this year taking into account his age, the jump up in competition, and the state of the team he is on.

And that will be a great year for an 18 year old kid playing in the NHL for a bottom feeder team.

We've all seem him play here now and I think we all know this isn't a player that comes around every year, this is no Lafreniere we are taking about here, this guy WILL be an impact player in this league sooner rather then later.

Scoring is up and that assumption is that he plays in all 82 games.

28 players hit 82 points last year and another 9 players were within 5 points of 82.

Four 18 year olds in history have hit 82 points. Scoring now is significantly lower than when the first three did it, and its barely up from when Crosby did it in 05-06. Just stating the facts
