C Connor Bedard (2023, 1st, CHI) Part 6

Chicago is in worse shape right now than when Edmonton got McDavid. And it took Edmonton several years to get it together with McDavid.

For Bedard's career, he went to the worst possible spot. He will be fed to the wolves as a #1 C there.

Anaheim or Columbus would have been way better for his career.

Yep. They have very few pieces in place unlike when they magically lucked into Kane in 2007. Toews, Keith, Seabrook were there already.

Aside from the obvious ethical problems with Chicago, that team went full scorched earth and is completely devoid of talent.

Who's Bedard centering next year? Taylor Raddysh and Tyler Johnson?

Just brutal.
We will keep him safe and table him for Eiserman next year. Then we are set C wise.

Zegras, Terry, McTavish, Zellweger, Drysdale, Dostal, top-5 prospect pool in the league.

Gaudreau, Laine, Johnson, Werenski, Jiricek, solid prospect pool.

Hertl, Couture, Karlsson, Eklund, Bordeleau.

Suzuki, Dach, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Roy, Guhle, Huston.

Keller, Schmaltz, Hayton, Maccelli, Cooley, Guenther, Geekie.

Couturier, Hayes, Konecny, Frost, Farabee, Tippett, Provorov, Hart, Gauthier, York.

Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Wilson, Carlson, Lapierre, McMichael, Miroshnichenko.

Larkin, Raymond, Seider, Husso, Edvinsson, Kasper, Cossa, Berggren, Wallinder.

Thomas, Kyrou, Schenn, Vrana, Buchnevich, Parayko, Snuggerud, Bolduc, Dean.

Pettersson, Miller, Kuzmenko, Hughes, Demko, Raty, Podkolzin, Lekkerimaki.

But no.

Johnson, Athanasiou, Reichel, the corpse of Jones, and maybe Nazar and Korchinski years from now.

Ideally he would have played first line wing with a quality centre his first year. Every single other team with a shot at him would have offered him that.

You do realize that Chicago has 40 million dollars in cap space with only 1 real long term commitment right? He’ll be well insulated by serviceable talent until the picks/prospects develop into a high end supporting cast

Why so pissy?

I agree.

SJ, Anaheim, Columbus, Washington, Vancouver, Blues, and Detroit would have had players to support him. Heck, even Montreal and Arizona have better rosters than Chicago.

Organization should go all out to ensure he isn't playing with those thrash teammates.

Is it Rigged? No
Is it Rigged because Chicago is Chicago? Absolutely and you can't tell me otherwise.

What a joke though for the league. Biggest projected star since McDavid goes to a team that got a slap on the wrist for a huge sexual assault scandal while Arizona loses a 1st for a combine violation. Can't make this shit up

Oh, f*** off. What remotely quality player is going to such an awful team that has genuinely zero chance of competing even with Bedard? Obviously they’ll sign some guys, but there will be no one to take an ounce of pressure off him.

I agree.

Anaheim has Terry, Zegras, McTavish and Gibson. That's just a few good pieces.

Columbus has Werenski, Laine, and Gaudreau.

Chicago has Bedard and......
Anaheim would have been glorious, I agree. Bedard and McTavish with their established connection followed by Zegras and Terry and backed up by what will be the best D-corps in the league.

nah, plenty of top players would be salivating to start a new legacy in an original six franchise with a transcendent young player.

You mean the awful team that finished ahead of Anaheim and Columbus despite being supremely less talented? Here in Chicago we have competent coaching and an actual plan and direction from our front office. He’ll be insulated enough to not harm his development. It’s not like the pressure is going to be on for him to win a cup here immediately
