Why exactly? He's huge, skates well, and defensively sound, not to mention his offensive skill-set. What do you see that won't translate as a centre?

Well, his shoot-first mentality is part of it, but watching him play he just looks like a winger.

What are you basing this on? Two tournaments and two preseason games? Or were you able to catch a lot of Czech games some how?

Firstly, it's not hard to catch Czech Extraliiga games if you're willing to get up early. I watched a dozen of Hertl's during the lockout. Secondly, I didn't think I needed to preface my post with "IMHO".

Nathan mackinnon is a shoot first center. So is Steven Stamkos. Ryan kesler.

Not every center needs to be joe Thornton or Henrik sedin.

I haven't seen Zacha enough to proclaim anything either way.

Stamkos might transition to wing and IMHO Kesler's better on the wing.

I'm not saying you can't have a shoot-first center but I just don't think that would be the best use of Zacha's offensive tool. If he proves me wrong, great. But I highly doubt he plays center in the NHL.

Fair enough. It's all opinions. I'd need to see more to even comment. Just thought I'd point out a few very successful shoot first centers.

I know White had mono earlier this year but he has completely fallen off the face of the Earth.

I see some mock's having him in the 20's.

And to think I was vilified on this thread for saying he was a bit overrated for being in the top ten.

lets see if he can bounce back, seasons still young. hes off to a very weak start tho

I haven't seen White play this year, but I have little doubt his game has been severely affected by bus illness.

Mono can screw up the good portion of a season. Have no idea/opinion on White before or after but would throw out the first half of this season and wait for the second half to see how he does. The vilification of you might start back after the new year.

Having only seen him at the U17. How does his motor compare to Dylan Larkin's?

Is he more skilled?

I really liked him as a U17 player but it sounds like he's having a slow season.

I haven't seen him at all since his injury. His stats aren't what I think people expected them to be, but it's worth noting that his PPG pace is a little better than Larkin's last year. He's basically in the same position, the Larkin to Matthews' Eichel.

White is a very quick, smart, skilled player. I'd argue more skilled than Larkin but I confess that I've never been high on Larkin.

Does he slip to the 2nd or 3rd at this point?

There is zero chance he lasts until the third. I could see a scenario where he maaaaaybe slips into the first couple of picks in the 2nd like Barbashev. But like how Barbashev slid to the 2nd, it would be complete lunacy.

I'm just stat watching so obviously his offensive contributions right now are really poor but it looks like he's dealing with stuff?

And how's his defensive play?

His offensive contributions are really poor? You do realize that his stats are very similar to Dylan Larkin's from last year?

How's his defensive play? It's his hallmark. A stylistic comparison I've liked a lot is Patrice Bergeron. No offensive dynamo but he's a guy you build around. He's a great skater, has enough size that it isn't an issue, high offensive IQ, and good offensive tools.

Stat-watching is a very poor way to judge a player like this.

Well he only had 1 point with the USHL squad as opposed to the U-18 team. Larkin played well with both squads.

How's he doing now? What does he project to be in the NHL? Is he likely to hit his ceiling/projection? Where will he be drafted?

Guy had a great tournament, clutch as hell and projected to be drafted in the first round yet there are no active thread on him?

Where's the love?

Count me in the White bandwagon.

White finally looked to be back to the form he showed last year which is awesome.

"Clutch as hell" ?

Bracco served him up the ot game winner

See for yourself

Bracco's effort was great, but White still needed to put that in, which he did.

He also scored a few clutch goals against Canada.

He gets things done.
