He's pretty opportunistic. Good on the rush. Not a dominant cycle/boards guy. He will go to the dirty areas.

Yep. Worth seeing not just for White, but for Hanifin, Werenski, Bracco, Matthews, Kirwan, and a bunch of other 2015 and 2016 draft eligibles, not just from the US but from other teams too. Top guys in those two drafts like Konecny, Day, Strome, Spencer, Chychrun, Marner, and Crouse are there, so the US-Ontario game is probably the one worth watching.

The final as well. Pacific doesn't have as many "sexy" picks though.

pretty much going to pile on as well as if you haven't seen the kid play, then ask for why he didn't produce, then say people are hissy fitting who disagree with your flawed logic....not sure what more you could expect???

looking at just stats for kids this age isn't the be all/end all. I understand the logic in your head with wondering why he didn't produce, but then after being told why from those who follow the USNDP you continue to disagree or just generalize what a player should be doing in his skates.

I am not sure what you are looking for with White, but I would move on for now until we get closer to the draft to see how he is producing.

While I have never watched him live, I have seen him quite a bit on fast hockey.

My "flawed logic" as you say was not devaluing him based on his U18 performance but rather was saying he may have been overvalued based on his u17 numbers.

Whatever, it will all play out how it plays out.

Hope the kid has a great career.

So what you're saying is that based upon his underwhelming 8 games with the U18's, his U17 numbers are useless?

Given that you literally created an account to post about White, I have to think there's something more there.

Next time you make an account on here to come on to de-value a kid maybe watch him several live games or talk to his coaches or real scouts. From all accounts this is a great kid who had a phenomenal season and is very respected by the NTDP. He led the NTDP in goals scored. I saw about 6-8 live USHL games and all the games at the World Challenge that he played in. He is on the PP and the PK. Several games I saw he was on point with Hanifin during the PP which was very effective. Had several short handed goals during the year. Was always the first shooter in the shoot out and nailed every shoot out goal. You don't play every PP and PK and shoot first in every shoot out because you aren't a top player on the NTDP. He also ended up +5 in USHL games for the season, which was the only U17 player to not be negative in he USHL for the season. It is rare that a U17 from the NTDP ends up + for the season in the USHL. He consistently makes any line better that he plays on. 200 ft player for sure.

My apologies, I didn't see the free 10000 posts button when I registered. Everyone has to start somewhere.

My big conspiracy to devalue white from a top ten draft pick to a mid first rounder has been exposed.

I think you guys have been watching too many Oliver Stone movies.

And how's this for flawed logic - he didn't produce at u18 because he didn't have the opportunities but he put up great numbers at u17 because he had tons of opportunities.

Could it possibly be the answer is somewhere in between?

An please check out the forum on hockey by the numbers and then tell me how important +/- is....

Oh well, you obviously have an axe to grind so much so that you made a user account to bring up the only negative thing you could think of about the kid. I'll take his results in 50 games with a lot of playing time over a new position in 8 games with a limited role..injured.

You have it all figured out - I want the kid to fall all the way to 15 so my middling favorite team can pick him.

IMHO most mock drafts are North American centric so everybody past 5 will probably be pushed down a couple of spots by some European kids we've never heard of.

White's range could be 6-15, depending on what you value in a player. We're talking about 12 2015 prospects (him included) IMO who don't really have many flaws. I have him right outside the top ten.

There are overlooked players who are more established/gamebreaking at this point who make an 11-15 ranking for CW reasonable.

I think that's a fair criticism of White. I don't think he'll be a game-breaker in the sense of "score in a flash", like a Marian Gaborik, but neither is Bergeron. I don't see White going above someone like Travis Konecny, who has tons and tons of skill but size issues.

Yes, he may be a darkhorse who is in a similar position to this year's hot rising Sam Bennett. Bennett was seen as an energy guy who needed to take the next step offensively to validate his current ranking.

White may have the same ability to improve his draft stock. He sure has the same compete and character level.

Already the draft is getting confusing for me because of the centers behind McDavid and Eichel. Let's just give them the top 2 slots, then there seems to be a huge number of guys who are very similar.

They are:

Barzal
Konecny
Zacha
White
Connor
Marner

Is it realisitic to say all of those guys have number 1 center potential? Is this draft that loaded? Because including Eichel and McDavid that's 8 guys, plus the 2 franchise dmen plus Sprong, who I think is going to be incredible..

and I just forgot Dylan Strome..

Marner and Zacha aren't centers (at least I don't see them as centers in the NHL) and I bet Connor is a winger too.

But Strome, White, Barzal, and Konecny, definitely have that potential.

According to our Czech friends Zacha's natural position is actually center.
