He said he'll play for which ever national team takes him first. Doesn't sound like he cared which one it was, albeit Canada's NT never even had a chance.

He made the right choice to showcase himself. Hed never get these opportunities on the Canadian National teams 3 years put from his draft year.

Guess he didnt have a great firat game in the first one, but did anyone really?

Whole Finnish team had a meh game tbh. As a youngest guy on the ice I think he did well, but nothing spectacular, or sumthing I think hes able to.

Once in his own blueline he made a nice cross ice pass to Roby Järventie on the other wing to gain offensive zone entry.. Couple of times he carried the puck himself through the neutral zones with good speed. He made one nice defensive play against Will Cuylle to catch him up and culd just enough prevent the first scoring chance while he was on the ice. At the third period he thought he celebrated a goal already, when he was alone in front of the net to tucks the loose puck in, but because theres no video reviews, we never had a chance to know if puck did cross the goal line cuz it was underneath Tristan Lennox the Canadian gk. Drove to the net once on the PP and Kaiden Guhle stopped his zone entry once to the boards.

I mean as an underager he showed his great acceleration once in a while, but I think puck bounced of his sticks couple of times when he handled it in top speed particularly. I bet hes going to show more today, cuz that line Lambert -Räty - Järventie was good yesterday.

This also against a best on best Canada U18 roster.

The only time Canada can ever send an age group together that is their absolute best is at this tournament. It’s a very important tournament for Hockey Canada.

Playing against a Hlinka Gretzky Canadian team, while get crushed 6-0 will have been a good experience for him long term.

This tournament shouldn't really be seen as anything but a good experience for young players who don't have a shot at the U20 team.

There’s over 200 scouts and NHL personnel in attendance.

It’s the first major tournament for the 2020 NHL draft in their draft year.

It’s a very important tournament.

Yup. I think its also underrated tournament elsewhere than NA, cuz first of all its not a tournament arranged by IIHF, thus its not broadcasted anywhere else.

Secondly, its still played on summer and most of the NTs havent really played games before it this ssn, so f.ex Finland has only one camp game vs Finland U19 age group under their belt, no matter how many times before these players have played together with this age group before. So some rust might always be included and thats why it doesnt make interest for every fan, cuz they know players will develop playing as much as possible and this is one hectic scheduled tournament which can display a lot of great skill but also fatigue when its final day.

Third. This is vital for the draft eligible guys yes and Canada has shown its dominance earlier and can get their best possible roster (when everyone is healthy), but most often not every other team come even close to them when they also play their younger players that has a lot of potential for the future. Small sample sizes doesnt interest many - however it gives an early glimpse of those that has edges early on comparing to others in this age group.

This is U18 World Cup and heck of competitive high lvl tournament and scouts rly focus on this like 110% already. But underrated cuz of those and maybe some other reasons elsewhere than Canada.

His dad Ross is from Kindersley which isn't far from me, a farming family from the area.
Was quite the player for the Swift Current Broncos and I believe he had a short stint with the Saskatoon blades before he eventually went to the NCAA, Princeton of all systems. Rare for any prairie raised farm kid.
Couldn't make it after a two year degree and went to the UK where he had a lot of success. He eventually got into skills coaching and landed in Finland with the Pelicans.

There is a period of time between Ross leaving hockey in the UK and Brad being born in 2003. So not sure how he ended up in Finland, but I believe Brad has a Finnish mother. Brad was eventually sent back to Saskatchewan and lived with family while he learned hockey in his earlier years and then eventually returned to Finland to join his father in Pelicans system.
This can' be correct as you can't play major junior and then NCAA

I think with it now in Canada every other year it will get bigger with the general hockey fan in Europe as well.

We should expect better broadcasting of this tournament going forward. It’s a best on best U18 tournament.

McDavid was the best player in the WJC18, a tournament for players that mostly turn 18 in the year he turned 16.

If Lambert is that level of generational talent, which it might take to go 1OA in the 2022 draft, he should be expected to be very good in this tournament.

Plenty of younger players struggle in these tournaments and get drafted top five. It’s a matter of how high the expectations should be.

I didn't realise how smooth his skating was. So effortless. Can't wait to see him in Liiga!

Age wise McDavid's 12-13 season is almost perfect comparison. Otherwise I'm not sure if it makes sense to compare anyone to McDavid at that point of their careers. Anyway, I would assume Lambert has a better chance of being one of the top players in spring after another year of development to make up for that young age.

No one's said generational but he could be the most talented Finn since Barkov.

First game I've seen from him, and I can confirm he looks extremely promising. Was not expecting that skating, and he seems to have a decent size already as well. Funnily enough the first thing that popped to my mind was that he looked exactly like Puljujärvi speeding through the neutral zone. Different story in the offensive zone, though, as Lambert has far superior hands and vision. Looks crazy good for someone that won't be drafted until 2022.
