Even if those were actually the only players to get excited about, well, that's a lot of player of that level. Throw in the foolish new lottery system and those first three slots could go to any non-playoff team, which will make for the most exciting lottery every in my book.

From what I’m hearing, Matthews will likely choose major-junior. But DU and Michigan are the NCAA frontrunners if he goes the NCAA route.

I hope he goes the NCAA route after seeing how well it worked out for Eichel. I think it's way more beneficial, particularly for a big guy like him. If he chooses Denver he'd be pretty close to home too.

Ya I been hearing also that he will choose WHL and announce it soon. I hope once he does, that another potential high 2016 pick Tyson Jost will follow him and commit to Everett. Jost is also currently debating between WHL and NCAA and this Matthews decision may end up being enough for Jost to join WHL . Would end up being a very lethal duo

They're different. They're both the two best center prospects USAH has had in a looooong time. You can make valid cases for both in my opinion. So I'd say they're very close. Who ends up being better won't be decided for awhile.

If Matthews was eligible for this draft... Eichel still probably goes ahead of him. But I believe thats because of what Eichel did in college this year.

If we exclude Eichel's current season and look at them both as 17 year olds.... probably Matthews. He just looks like a tank, and has hands

Damien Cox just said the Matthews camp has been contacted and is looking into going to play in Switzerland. Would be really cool as I don't think a North American highly touted prospevt has done that.. But also will be tougher to see as many highlights and live games

Well, he would get paid a year earlier. I doubt the kid is strapped for cash though.

Plus living in Switzerland as an 18 year old kid wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

With the way Eichel dominated in the NCAA, I guess he feels like he'd rather challenge himself against professional men in the Swiss league and the extra cash doesn't hurt.

Yeah Switzerland is an extremely nice place to live. Living abroad also may be something he wants to do but wouldn't be able to do until after his NHL career basically.

I would so do it. Get to work on your German/French, make a nice amount of cash, and have a really cool and unique experience.

That sounds really cool. I wonder if the U18 tournament had anything to do with it or if it actually was an option before that. Maybe he just fell in love with the country while there?
