Some of these *idiots* seem really upset that the US is producing talent. It's weird.
Fixed for you.

There are rumors ive heard that there is a strong chance he comes and plays WHL in Everett next year. I have no links or anything stating this but its just the rumors around the rinks in my area. Has anyone heard anything about that?
Apparently he's 50/50 which makes sense since he's not from a typical NCAA hockey area.
Fixed for you.
Sorry if this has been already discussed in previous pages but who does he compare to in the NHL?

Patrick Kane in a bigger body.
Looks sort of like Nash to me. Similarly sized and fantastic hands
Toews with better hands
Scotty Upshall. More complete though.

What....
Not even close... I don't know who I'd compare him to, but TheJuxtaposer put it perfectly (before I'd ever seen Matthews play), he just sort of goes with the flow of the game. He doesn't dictate it like Kane does.
Agree. He reminds me a lot of Nash with his hands, reach and size.Looks sort of like Nash to me. Similarly sized and fantastic hands
IMO he's a one and done. I believe the game schedule of the WHL would help him more than the older competition (that he already experiences with the NTDP) and gym and practice time afforded to him in the NCAA.
But you can't really make an argument definitely one route over the other. Of course I'm biased and would like to see him in the WHL though.

I see the same hands, vision, and release. Matthews has to catch up with his skating, but stylistically they are similar at the same age. As his skating matures, I think you'll see him dictate the play more, just like we've seen with Kane.
Who knows, just giving my honest, unfiltered opinion based on my viewings of him at the WJC and for the USNTDP.
Not trying to be a dick, but they just aren't even remotely similar players. No doubt they're talented/skilled at some of the same things, but they way they play, is nothing alike.
He plays exactly like Dylan Strome, he's like a clone. But the catch is that he gets 1 extra year to develop before his draft year.
