In the NCAA, there were already signals regarding his level of play.

It's very difficult to evaluate in a USDP context with so many good players alongside him.
Agreed but he hasn’t been given much of a chance to establish himself in the NhL between the concussions and draconian development methods employed by LA

He wasn't terrible in college...he just didn't meet the high expectations of him as a high draft choice.
Same with his AHL play. It hasn't been bad, he's looked good when healthy.

Will he be back up after the all-star break and what difference will Hiller make on his situation?

He’s a support machine who plays better with better players, that’s for sure.

He’ll likely never reach pre draft expectations of production since his shot is mostly a muffin but his tenacity and playmaking is undersold

Still think he’s going to surprise people. Especially judging by the tenor of the last few pages.

Is Sam Gagner a decent comparable?

Kerfoot? Does he have the wheels and any of the defensive ability?

Maybe the Gagner comparison might be right.

Looks like he’s finally getting a chance to stick in the NHL.

And the results have predictably been pretty good. He’s barely playing (7:23 per game), but has 3 points in those 8 games, which per 60 has him second on the team in P/60. Had a hard work assist last night by winning back a puck. +/- can be deceiving, but with no special teams time for him, it’s less so. +4 in less than 60 total minutes. Team is 6-1-1 with him in the lineup. Pretty decent analytics.

Next step is more ice time. They need to move him off center for that. Kopitar, PLD, and Danault take up so much TOI that the 4C isn’t going to get much. He’s 50% on draws, which is good for a rookie and he’s an NHL center, but also it’d be better that he plays more and he could certainly fit in the Kings top 9, especially given some of their injuries.

Arvidsson went down early last game and ended up having a line of Byfield - Dubois - Turcotte who looked amazing. Hope to see the these together next game.

It's been a tumultuous few years for Alex but he very much looks the part of a middle six center and he just keeps improving. He's got a motor, he's showing some offensive skill, and as long as he can stay healthy, he's on a steal of a contract. I'd love nothing more than for him to succeed in LA with Byfield and Turcotte down the middle.

We have been waiting awhile for him to turn the corner. I know it is early. But I am happy he has started well

5 points in his last 5 games. 13 points in 27 games. But he only plays 12:05 per game.

42nd in the league in 5 on 5 P/60, 16th in 5 on 5 GF%, 23nd in 5 on 5 xGF%, 41st in +/-. Been getting top 9 line assignments recently (still lacking top 9 minutes). Safe to say he's finally arrived in the NHL.

I was a huge fan of his out of the draft and have met his dad several times. Really happy he overcame those injuries. He is a great example of how an organization can be patient with their talent and see it pay off several years in the future.

Hoping he keeps his pace and a lot of people who wanted him traded for futures eat crow. I've always liked his game, but he had a tough road staying healthy.
