So what does everyone think, should he stick with the big club or be sent back to Sarnia?

Personally think he should come back and finish the year off with Sarnia and tear the league apart. He's averaging around 12 minutes a game so far in Montreal and doesn't look out of place at all so I would not be surprised to see the Habs keep him all year.

Personally Id like to see him get bigger and stronger before he plays a full season. I think he should be sent back for the remainder of the season

Personally i think no prospect (who is junior eligible) should be kept this year. Alex has been decent its pointless to have a guy who could be your number one center in the next few years burn a year of his entry level, keep him till five games then send him down. However i'm kinda of in the mindset of having a prospect play in the CHL for as long as they can and then play a year in the AHL minimum.
 
I would send him back and have said so from the start, but I would bet he stays. MT seems to absolutely love him.

As long as he's playing C in MTL (like he has the last 2 games), I can accept keeping him up.

It's pointless sending him back to junior. It's like if you or I weren't quite good enough for our Beer League A level team, but the only place we could play would be with some kids. We'd just be on a treadmill waiting.
 
Pacioretty out and our team did struggle to score last year as Pacs-Cole and DD were the line that did most of our scoring, Galchenyuk will stay.

Fir enough, but why waste a year of his entry level contract now ? this is a guy who has a huge offensive upside, someone who could be a number one center so let him play the entire year in Sarnia then next year keep him up. look at the islanders, they sent down Ryan Strome who has comparable numbers to Alex, i agree he's dominating the OHL ,but isn't it better to have a prospect dominate a league then to have them play third line minutes ( in Alex's case ?) its a shame he can't play in the AHL.
 
Its going to take most prospects time to adjust, whether he's coming from the AHL or if he's 18. So there are a few questions you have to ask yourself. Does his current presence on the team make the team significantly better than without him? If the answer is no, then you send him down. If the answer is maybe/yes, then you have to ask yourself if delaying his NHL "debut" will make him a significantly better player down the road such that the years you get with him on that entry level deal are of substantially more value? If the answer is yes, you send him down. If no, you keep him. Pretty simple.
 
Send him back, don't sign Subban until end of March and slow play Patches return to keep him healthy

love the kid

he plays with no fear, grit and has a nose for the net and a wicked release. tape to tape passes across tight lanes and great hockey sense.

i think what i like the most is he has the size (already) to play the big league.

i sure hope he stays and matures with the big boys!

I don't think it does anything to have him complete dominate at that level. He doesn't get any better, so you either are wasting a year of his entry level deal or just wasting a year of his career. Sure maybe he comes up next year, but he comes up at the same level you send him down now. Which means in three years when you sign that second contract you didn't really gain a year out of him, because you really lost a year of his development when he was just skating in circles in the OHL.
 
he's not being sent back. if he plays like he has in first three games, he's not going back. And with Pacioretty's injury, they've slid Eller into his wing spot, so Galchenyuk remains where he is. they're not sending him and his Offense down so we get to see more of Michael Blunden

were you not one of the posters fighting tooth and nail that he isn't NHL ready? If so, has your opinion changed?

I havent been watching the game but has he been good? looking at the stats he doesn't have any shots.
