I swear I have seen posters say that for literally every pick outside the top 5 now.

Yeah, it's amazing how often those statements get bandied about on the web, presumably by many folks who don't know what the heck they're talking about. As a Kings fan, I'm excited about what I've seen/read about his potential....but I have no idea how his potential stacks up to those picked above him.

Also, get off my lawn!

This guy is having a great year under the radar. Another goal and assist today. The tag on him predraft was that he was a very safe pick who would be a solid player but might not have a lot of scoring potential. But his offensive game is really growing.

Kings with a steal.

I wanted the Ducks to move up to pick him, so you can guess how....excited... I was the Kings picked him. Kid is gonna be good.

Youngest player in the draft as well I believe! Another great pick by Lombardi it looks like right now.

I'm going to pump my own tires for a sec.

I had him in my top 10 predraft. The facial expressions I was making while he was inching closer and closer to 31 were.. well. Interesting to say the least.

Loved Kempe on draft day. He is going to fit LA like a glove.

I've now seen that claim for about ~20 2014 first rounders so far. Just way too early to tell this, especially when he plays with a centre who puts up much better numbers than him.

Easily one of Modos best players this year, showing some nice chemistry with Nylander in the first line. Hopefully they will play together in the WJC aswell.

Would be surprise if they didnt. I would guess it will be a "Modo" line with them and Olofsson.

I dont like the term ''steal'' either. Take it with a grain with salt.

I am bit confused what you mean with your last sentence. So what if Nylander has put up better numbers. Nylander was picked top 10 for a reason and has skill. I fail to see your point. There is a topic of 287 pages about him somewhere else.

I would not be suprised if Kempe turned out to be a solid NHL player. Nylander looks great on a large surface but Kempe is big, fast and has some good puckhandling skills too. The difference between a physical NHL and Swedish Hockey league is noticable.

You're confused about why, when a linemate has a much, much higher PPG, questions about whether or not they are being carried by said linemate arise?

Weird that you seemingly got offended when I brought up Nylander, telling me about other threads. This isn't a vacuum. There are variables.

Don't worry, pretty much the entire prospects board is polluted with Maple Leafs fans shoving their latest shiny toy down everyone else's throat, the name of the thread is just optics, in reality they're all about Nylander.

No idea what makes you think that I am ''offended''. I made a fair reply. Annoyed is the right term. I watch both of these players on a regular base while you probably check hockeydatabase.com on a regular base. You just act like a homer in a topic about another player. That's just sad.

Seems like it.

And, exactly, which Maple Leafs fan is shoving down Nylander in everyone's throats in this thread? Or in any of the threads on this Prospects board aside from the one titled "William Nylander - C, Modo, etc."

I'll give you the Bennett vs MDC thread, but that's just one poster, and one thread..

Numbers are all I have to go off atm, put he seems to be as productive or more so as Kopitar was at the same age in the Swedish league. This is cause for excitement.

The last 2 games Kempe has been better than Nylander imo. He's not being carried by William, that's for sure. And i'm a Modo fan.

Obviously it's easier to produce when you're playing in the first line, but Kempe has been a stud the entire season. Only played the last couple of games with Nylander.

A guy I have allot of respect for projecting prospects on our Jets board (and Arctic Ice Hockey) had Kempe in his top 10 going Into the draft. I was happy with our pick but Kempe and Larkin were two guys I wanted as well at the 9 slot. Although Kempe just screams LA King to me.

How does he look in the AHL playoffs?

Really good. He has 4 goals and 5 points in 12 playoff games, playing on the Monarchs' second line with Shore and Backman (usually). It seems he's still adjusting to the smaller ice sheet but he says it's getting better every game. There have been a few times when he's had a prime chance to finish but missed the net entirely, but then again he has 4 goals so not too many complaints over here.

He's a really good fit for the Kings' system as he's a big kid who drives the net hard. Just hoping he can develop the offensive ability to become a top-six player.

Two goals last night*, and he's probably the youngest guy (or one of) to play in the AHL in the past few seasons, let alone the AHL finals. Anyone know anyone younger than Kempe to have played an AHL final playoff game?
