There are plenty of people who gave up on Byfield or felt that the Kings should cut bait and trade him before his value gets lower. Of course, unicornpig can correct me if he meant other people, but to act like a chunk of this forum hadn't either given up on or on the cusp of giving up is pretty serious revisionism.Ok, like who? I feel like I spend way to much time here, but I can't remember anyone who this fits, but since it's said ad-nauseum, I'm sure finding plenty of examples shouldn't be tough/
I have been accused of it plenty of times, even though I've been comparing him to a PLD caliber player for three seasons now. PLD in his age 21 and 22 seasons. PLD in those years was producing similar results on both sides of the ice.
How about the people on this forum who compared him to players like Malkin and Jack Hughes, do they get the same "look stupid" treatment, considering he's not close to that level, or is the "looking stupid" just reserved for the people who supposedly said he was so bad that back to back 50 pt seasons make them look stupid.
There have been valid or interesting points and concerns. I'd put your comparison of Byfield to PLD as interesting, although I disagree by sheer virtue of PLD's issues have always been effort related, while Byfield has been confidence related.
Others have pointed out that Byfield taken at No. 2 overall hasn't yielded the immediate return that is expected of a No 2 pick. Those are reasonable. But defenders have suggested patience, which others (including you) have shown.
