Knee more likely than ankle
Unless it was a high ankle sprain, but it looked like the way he was favouring it that it was a knee ligament issue.,

He was swinging his leg back and forth on the way to the bench while skating on one leg, like he was checking his knee mobility and seeing it was just a stinger or something else.

He is likely going to have an MRI to determine the damage.

He put weight on it which is a good sign.

Love Bunting and hope he'll be back soon to get into some playoff games but if we're really saying we're screwed because he's out that's ridiculous.
He's a good player but every single team will have injuries and that's why you need depth. You don't win Stanley cups without playing some guys with injuries or some guys being out because of one.

Hell I remember the one year Leafs played amazing without Sundin (Alan and Roberts were beasts). Then I think in the 3rd round he came back and they lost I think it was to Carolina.

You don't always need your best guy to win games as we've seen with this team this year. They can still win. You need your best effort all the time as a team. I know nothing new but again it's never on one guy.

He’s not weight bearing during the injury

No way it’s high ankle. High ankle needs tremendous loads and this knee rotation is in the opposite direction to stretch the lateral leg.

It’s excessive knee rotation without weight bearing. He should be fine. He could be done for the regular season.

I don't think it is. Hyman played 3+ games in the playoffs with a torn ACL. My buddy in HS walked home from his knee injury sustained in a football game his junior year. He tore his ACL and had surgery and was on crutches for a period of time.

I wonder if they'll be as cryptic with Michael Bunting's injury as they have been with Auston Matthews? Would certainly hope they would. Bad for us, for the wonderment, but good for Michael Bunting. Have a feeling if they do tell us anything of substance, that is bad news, as in they know he's done for the season so they don't need to protect him.

No news is good news.

Agree with the above poster, no news is good news. If it was a torn ACL we likely would be told he’s done for the season by now. Hopefully it’s just a sprain and he could *knock on wood* return after Round 1 if we make it through.

That means literally nothing, that could be a day, a week, a month, his entire career or anything in between.

he walked off on his power so it's probably not career ending.

All I'm saying is "some time" can mean A LOT of things
That literally doesn’t mean nothing, it means he hurt himself enough he can’t play, the antithesis of nothing. But yes, it means a lot of things. Hopefully he’s back for the playoffs.

So is there gonna be any updates with this injury or are they just gonna leave us in the dark on this one too?

I’ve been waiting for something like this to happen right before playoffs, right on cue. Damn it.
When Marner struggled off the ice, after the Kucherov skate to the knee, I thought that was the cue. Big sigh of relief we dodged that bullet. At that point, it was no Matthews and Marner looking like he might be out, too.

The next night Bunting goes down on an innocent looking play which are the ones that seem to end up the worst.

Well atleast now we can just expect to lose 1st round again this year
maybe that's what it takes to win, just lose all hope. can only go up from there
maybe us thinking we would win is the reason we always lose
We're the reason we lose know why? because we're as fans cursed if you stop watching them we will win

Playoffs start in 1 week. (can't wait, it seems like forever this year.)

I think any kind of mild strain your looking at at least a week. Hopefully he just tweaked something that takes a few days of rest and ice before resuming normal activites.

They told us Sandin would miss weeks pretty soon after his injury, lets hope that a good sign they haven't defined a timeline yet.

Lots of fans are confident we'll lose in the 1st round every year and then we lose.
