It is too bad he didn't get his brother's size, although he probably isn't available where the Leafs drafted him. I have been underwhelmed with him in the NHL so far. Great shot, but never seems to be able to get it off.

That's cause he doesn't play like a sniper trying to get open. He's always playing that heavy forecheck game like he's David Kampf, but with a 5'9" frame and lack of wheels. Guy needs a lot of development time.

No one else can do what he does for us but I think we’re going to see a stacked top line tomorrow with Blackwell getting a chance to move up and Spezza slotting back in on the 4th line. Otherwise we’d have to fly someone out to Washington and throw them in with no practice time..

I like the guy but you can see his size is a major detriment. I don't think he's any kind of an answer. Abruzzese was a thought, but his diminutive stature is a negative, too.

In pondering the legitimate options, I ranged from them (God forbid) putting someone like Simmonds up there to Alex Steeves, and the hail mary Knies total mind change, until I settled on what I think they'll ultimately do.

It's going to be Nylander. Balance on 3rd line be danged. Kase can reprise his role with Kampf when Game 1 hits. I do not like this. Keefe only liked it, apparently, when it came to o-zone starts. 88 better be the good Will we see, post public tongue lashing, every single shift like Bunting brings it. If that's the plan, we'll have 3 guys who have little pushback and certainly do nothing to stir it up, although, I have seen Mitch jawing a little more of late. Simmonds is the guy who would stir it up like Bunting but he can't bring the other stuff Bunting brings.

Wouldn't be surprised to see AbruZZese Top get a look, as he didn't get his shot up there with Auston and Mitch. Auston was out when he had his dalliance with Marner and Bunting. Blackwell was mentioned by others and got his looks tonight like Nylander, but I don't think that one's going to work. I wonder if they'll even revisit it?
