The fact that several neutral fans are surprised they gave him 3 instead of 2 or 1 is such a hilarious indictment of the DOPS and shows just how trash they’ve been. In a normal, functional “player safety” system this easily gets 3-5 games. But it’s the DOPS so you never know.

Granted by suspending him 3 playoff games they effectively just called this the single worst thing a hockey player did on ice this season which seems a bit inaccurate.

Cernak himself did something similar earlier this year and got a 2 game suspension... played one game and then did it again and got... the same, just 2 games despite having priors just the week before. DOPS dopes at it again. I get the suspension, but the lack of consistency in their rulings is wildly varied.

Absolutely no issue with Bunting getting 3. The only issue I have is that only Leafs players get suspended accurately. Any other team he get gets 1 (maybe a fine if he played for a handful of teams), or 2 games max.
