Rumor: Buffalo & NYR having conversations about Trocheck today

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
he's saying your characterizations of the players are off. which, at least with trocheck, is 100% right.

although hands up you caught me with tro/schneider for 4. can't lie to you braden schneider is cheeks.

Gotta give to get . Rangers won’t trade him for nothing .

It’s 3 yrs so think about paying for each year with an asset

It's the 3 years that makes it icky.

Im not big on acquiring him honestly

But if I can shed Krebs from Ruffs clutches I'd be good.

Admittedly I don’t watch much of Trocheck, but I don’t see what people are talking about saying he’s started his decline or that he’s a 3C. His 82 game pace was in the 20G-45A range last season. Those are great 2C numbers and passable as a 1C. With the way contracts are going, I feel like he’s as safe as an acquisition you can make. Even if his offense falls off, he’s still a defensively responsible center that’s great on the dot. At his cap hit, he’s unlikely to ever be a bad contract. It’s why I’d rather the Wild target him over Larkin.

No way they’re moving Kulich for Trocheck

Maybe there's some other smaller parts moving to balance things out. But of the younger forwards I think it's Helenius->Ostlund->Kulich.

Helenius for Trocheck would be awful and unwind Jarmo's goodwill from yesterday.
Ostlund would need to have NYR throw in something decent.
Kulich; eh I dunno.

he's on the rangers so people act like he's garbage

I am not a Trochek fan. His stats have average written all over him. He'd improve the center depth, but not a fan. Have no love for Drury. Keep your guys.

In case you missed it, this isn't a proposal from a fan, it's reporting that BUF contacted and talked to NY about him.

As the cap goes up his cap hits look better, which is why teams look to trade for him as his contracts are close to expiring.

But those initial years of his new contract are often overpaid.

It's fine not to want an aging center. It's fine not to want to pay the price for that player. But there was 0 part of this contract that ever felt overpaid. Not year 1. Not year 2. Not year 3. Not year 4. It's not even debatable.

I think everyone understands that. I also think every Buffalo fan in this thread doesn't like the reported asking price, and rightfully so.
As a Sabres fan It’s not the ask I mind, actually, I’m indifferent to what the Rangers want in return. My only concern is what Jarmo is willing to give, and judging by the lack of announced trade, I’d say he’s not willing to give the ask. Which makes me relieved.

Serious recency bias here. Before he had blood clots and missed most of the season, Kulich was the clear top prospect.
