Rumor: Buffalo & NYR having conversations about Trocheck today

  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
i didn't suggest helenius. im not insisting on helenius. i'm not insisting on anything except "45th and B tier prospect is not in line with historic comps for player"
Glad to see you walked back your Ritchie is Helenius comparison.

any guesses?
Nelson got traded coming off three consecutive 30+ goal seasons and had 20 in 61 at the time of the trade. The last time he didn’t score over 20 in a full season prior to that was 2017-2018.

That season was the last time Trocheck scored over 30 goals.

So there’s going to be cost difference between a goal scoring center who projected as Colorado’s 2C, and a player who is being brought into a role to help ease in a group of young centers.

nelson is the better goalscorer, no doubt. trocheck is better at everything else.

I think he would be good add for the Sabres. How is his skating/speed?

I think #20 plus b level futures is a good base. But Sabres have too many forwards as it is, so I don’t know what we’d be sending back

No argument. But there will be a difference in trade cost for two players who project into different roles, especially with the difference in what they did over the five years prior to a trade.

Looking at a full career to grade trade cost without looking at recent performance prior to the trade isn’t a good trade comparison.

I can assure you that you are literally the only person who thinks that. Aside from maybe Callum Ritchie’s mom.
oh would you look at that.

4/13/26 athletic scott wheeler's top 100 drafted prospect rankings, selections:

22 mrtka
26 ritchie
32 helenius
38 ostlund

A lot more reasonable.

We know Jarmo is willing to move Mrtka. 20 + Mrtka + Krebs still seems rich to me, but it wouldn’t shock me.
drury has stated he's looking for forward with scoring upside, so i don't think this package is a fit even if value is there.

He's a good skater and has very good stamina, he held up well for the full 60 minutes in tough playoff games

That was 2 years ago. By the time he makes the playoffs next year (if he makes it), he'll have been 3 years removed at 33. He just isn't a guy a lot of us fans would like unfortunately, especially not at the cost of what's been throw around the last few days. Our GM on the other hand? Who knows.

Someone asked was he a good skater, I said he is.

I've watched every Rangers game from this season, which isn't 2 years ago. His stamina remains strong.

Lastly, I don't know why you're saying no thanks as if we're GMs discussing a trade 😂 the poster and I weren't even discussing a trade. The actual GMs are doing that.

So again, someone asked a question, I answered

bro this isn't rangers fans suggesting there's a fit. the rumor is buffalo has interest.
Bingo.

If Trocheck played for the Sharks, Canes, etc. many of these same people would be tripping over themselves to get him.

It is actually quite funny how horribly irrational people are.

It's a legitimate rumor. I'm sorry that people are so unbelievably soft and have lived in an echo chamber for so long that they can't cope with things they don't like.

Maybe he goes to Buffalo. Maybe doesn't. Either way until we see something legitimate that is contrary, it is a real rumor.

Out to lunch & highly underestimating our young players if Peg & NYR fanbases think we're adding guys to 4OA nonetheless for an aging Goaltender who has a track record of underperforming in the playoffs & a guy nearing the tail end of his career
