Time for Engvall to sit and ponder life for a few games. As a proud supporter of his last year I’m shocked with how terrible he’s been this year without any hint of improvement the last couple games.
What bothers me is how well he played in the game the night of the Salming tribute and immediately reverted back to his lackadaisical norm of this season.
That reeks of disinterest to me. He's welcome to join Mikheyev on another roster next season.

Mikheyev has 8 in 14, I’d much rather him than any bottom six play not named kampf

Too bad he wanted too much

based on the 10 game sample that we have to look at I'd say yes

If Engvall actually played a solid bottom 6 style of hockey I'd understanding leaving him in over Robertson. But the pos is a waste of space out there.

Trying to give Holmberg some time makes sense but Robertson should not be paying the price for that.

Plus I want to see Douglas up here on the 4th line :)

We would need more players with edge and toughness and HITS. Teams without these wont win in the playoffs, period. Whats New in this post LoL? Nothing. Wonder why the leafs management dont recognize this real problem as other teams also give example..... how dumb can a management even be. Very dumb it seems :biglaugh:

Couple interesting stats today, we’re a minus 5 v 5 goals this year and 34 has only potted two even strength goals.

and i get called out here when i say cut out the fancy BS and manage the puck better. Go figure
Lol well maybe it'll help your case. Either way as someone else stated it's because we have the puck a lot. Leafs are one of the better possession teams usually so that's some of it.

Also some of the young D. As someone also mentioned I'd like to see a stat on the unforced errors.

I do agree though... more pucks to the net and rebounds. This team doesn't seem to do the simple play a lot of the time.

Absolutely matches the eye test. Curious why though. Is there a game plan or system they're trying to adapt to? This version of the team has never looked so sloppy IMO. I don't get it, they can't just lose their hands with one summer off. Has to be something they're working on.
Possibly. They're a good possession team so that's part of it.

Some of the bottom 6 is new along with young d man getting a lot more time.

That's good that he's putting up some okay numbers but I couldn't get beyond how little intensity he showed against Tampa. It was hard to watch and impossible to support.

Never dress Engvall again... The guys a waste of a roster spots.

Just a perfect example of an invisible player, that chooses not to use his strengths.

Please trade or waive him. Use that money on someone who can play his role.. how many times is he going to dodge finishing his checks and make hail Mary passes in the slot. Absolutely useless.

Atleast Jarnkrok has hustle and skates,

And Mikheyev will have 0 goals in the playoffs as usual. He has 0 goals on a goalie in 19 playoff goalie.

Would love for us to be done with that type of player but Dubas loves em. The Jarnkrok's, Kerfoot's, Engvall's, Mikheyev's

I don't even know wtf is keefe even saying here.

what in the blue hell have kerfoot, engvall, zar, janjrok done or have not done. what a way to destroy a young player's confidence. good stuff keefe. did robertson not "respect you in the handshake" or what?

or may be he ate the last cookie after you had worked through the entire box in 10 mins?

is that it?
If Keefe has no interest in playing Robertson why doesn’t he just send him down or have his buddy Dubas trade him for a bag of pucks and a bundle of sticks

He isn't a full time NHLer.

I think he should be playing 20 minutes a night in the AHL.

A part-time depth player at 21 shouldn't be how he is handled.
He is better then Engvall or Malgin. He is a young prospect and will never get better without playing time

It's not if you're a team trying to win - Robertson has been one of the worst performing forwards on this team, and his underlyings have been backed up by the eye test. Not saying Kerfoot & Engvall have been great, but they've been better and they can kill penalties unlike Robertson, so there is some added value in keeping them in the lineup over him.

The onus is on Robertson to grab a spot - the fact that this team's bottom 6 (and LW in general) is so devoid of consistent performances, and Nicky still can't get into the lineup, is more an indictment on Robertson than it is on the coach. Once he got into the lineup earlier in the year, he should have made himself stick.

The good news is that he's going to get another opportunity here at some point, and he's going to have to make the most of it. I don't see a full time NHLer in him yet, and that's okay - he's only 21 and this is the first proper full year of healthy pro hockey he's playing.
Keefe came out and said there us basically nothing Robertson can do to get in……one of the others has to lose the spot. Malgin is basi doing nothing yet he is playing every game.

Are there any core players that would have applied to anytime this season?

Tbh we weren't even that good in that game

The Canucks came out to a 2-0 lead. They're just elite at blowing leads

They'd be stupid to break up the Malgin / ZAK / Kampf line, which has been really good as a shutdown line, just to insert someone into the lineup who just isn't NHL ready.

That leaves Engvall or Kerfoot, both of whom offer you so little at 5 on 5 right now, but at least can kill penalties for you which Robertson can't.

I don't get the frustration surrounding Robertson - other than the Stars game, he hasn't looked ready at all.

I agree Robertson hasn't been great, but I think the hope with him is he gets more experience and could potentially figure it out on the big club. Its only been 10 games this year. You give him more opportunities and maybe he puts it together and becomes the depth scoring winger we need

On the the other hand, what's the upside here with Engvall? We know what he is, it isn't that good. Might as well try the other options and have him as a fall back

He has the same number of points as jarnkrok and more then engvall, in 8 fewer games

Oh boy. Didn't realize that. How about take aways?

That's brutal though. Need to clean that up.

How are theses give-aways tabulated? The give-aways in the neutral and D zone are obviously a problem and teams are always trying to prevent those, but others are by choice.

Sabres were playing fast, using their skill, paying half attention to D, and then boom they hit a road block and haven’t figured out how to get around it.

They’re a team that I hope to see get back into the mix while the Leafs are decent, but Im not as convinced as I was two weeks ago.
