Value of: BUF trades with NYR/LAK/VAN

I don’t understand why Buffalo didn’t go hard after Roy as a UFA last offseason. He is just what’s needed
He would've fit great. We've needed a player like that for the entirety of Adams time here and he's done next to nothing. Not a trade for a guy like Marino, not a free agent signing like Roy, hell he couldn't even bother putting in a waiver claim for Fabbro. It's absolutely infuriating.
Maybe they did and Roy wanted to play with what he thought was going to be a playoff team minimum.
That's fair. You can't make guys sign with you. Buffalo would certainly have to offer more money and term just to get a guy like Roy to even listen and even then it's probably worth sacrificing a few million to play meaningful hockey.

I can't remember where I read on Roy but the Sabres were one of the three finalists for him but his wife ultimately made the final call on location.

I think Spence is a young, low event dman that would be a great partner for Power. He also wouldn't cost as much as Clarke and would fit better into the mix. Also seems like LA could easily move him.
With Doughty aging and no replacement RD in the organization I don’t think we should be moving any of our young defenseman. Blake has already shipped out every RD we had in the organization.

You're missing the point

It's that guys produce much better once they leave Buffalo

Do they, though? I guess Reinhart did, but he was getting better every year in Buffalo; you'd be hard-pressed to find a Sabres fan who's surprised by his career. ROR and Eichel were basically the same players they always were -- they just got to do that for larger market teams that people actually watch. I guess there's also Rodrigues, who was just kind of a late bloomer. But no one's left Buffalo and magically become a different player.

1. Sabres get destroyed on trade 1 yikes. Peterka, Byram for Fox.
2. Sabres can't part with Kulich and Norris so you get Norris Rosen+ 2026 first
3. Sold.
Canucks aren't even making that second trade with Kulich...and I really like Kulich.

Reinhart, Eichel, ROR, Erod, Montour all seen jumps in production when leaving. Obviously too early to tell with Cozens.

Taylor Hall was on pace for 41 points in Buffalo. Scored 61 points the next season in Boston.

I'm sure if you put Tage on a decent team he could hit well into the 100s. Dahlin would probably be 90+

I don't think they magically become different players. They usually just go to a competent team with better teammates. Playing in Buffalo is a debuff.

They likely did but not going to overpay for him. But hes a free agent so he can choose and it might not be about money

Given he was turning 30 this year I would have only signed him for 4 yrs.

ROR and Eichel have been around the same.

Reinhart went up in goal scoring which I'd a bit of a surprise getting 50+

The only other one us Rodriges in florida

Power and 2025 1st for Ep40 and whatever is needed.

Then Canucks trade Power for a center one for one.

And then draft a center top 5.

Probably easier to trade Power to any of like 30 NHL teams than it is to dangle Ep40 to like 5.

Byram is absolutely not garbage. He’s our best all situation d along with Dahlin He’s better than Clarke right now. You’re saying the difference between Clarke and Byram is 4 1st round picks and a second ? You don’t think Clarke would demand a bigger or equal contract?? Thank god you’re not the gm
Byram is garbage without Dahlin. I don't need to pay him 7m to be carried. Cap savings this year to go get a big free agent or trade upgrade

....what? What's the 4 first round picks? It is Quinn and Clifton for Clarke; I would also swap Clarke and Byram to save salary short term. Don't need to pay Byram 7m.

On this version of the Kings, guy could score 19 goals and 50 points one year then the next, struggle to score 19 points overall.
