Value of: BUF trades with NYR/LAK/VAN

No, it isn't.

LA isn't trading Clarke. Reporters hearing rumors that Clarke's name was talked about in a potential Rantanen deal is not the same as him being "available". The offer for Clarke here wouldn't come close to meeting LA's needs.
Putting aside its a message board to have fun 95% of players aren't getting traded according to their own teams.

That being said 95% of players are available if the other team is willing to pay a price.

Just wondering the value on these potential trades:

NYR Receives

- JJ Peterka
- Bo Byram

BUF Recieves

- Laf or Cuylle
- Braden Schneider

VAN Receives

- Josh Norris
- Jiri Kulich
- Isak Rosen

BUF Receives

- Elias Pettersson

LAK Receives

- Jack Quinn
- Jacob Bernard-Docker or Connor Clifton

BUF Receives

- Brandt Clarke

I figure these would be the foundational pieces of trades, with additions possibly being made on one or both sides.
There is a small problem here.

Brandt Clarke is not for trade.

Doughty getting really bad and Clarke is his 1D replacement.

NYR trade bad for Buffalo
VAN trade bad for Buffalo

LAK trade is debatable. I would probably do it because Buffalo needs a top 4 RHD which Clarke will be.

There is only one thing to clear out.... Why is L.A. doing this trade?
Doughty falls of a cliff and Clarke will be the 1D

Also the pieces coming in return are borderline insults.
The winger we get in return is scoring less than Clarke
And then we can chose of an undersized defender who couldn't make it in freaking Ottawa or a an aging guy who has no business in professional hockey

What worries me most, is that people call this the closest deal

LA laughs and hangs up the phone. Clarke is too important to LA's future D-core to move unless it's for an elite superstar coming back. If LA is moving a RHD for Quinn (which I highly doubt) it's more likely to be Spence not Clarke.

1. Sabres get destroyed on trade 1 yikes. Peterka, Byram for Fox.
2. Sabres can't part with Kulich and Norris so you get Norris Rosen+ 2026 first
3. Sold.
No to OP deal 1.
Do not want Byram b'c too much risk w/concussion history
Also LaF commands more value and will get it from a Canadian team

No to above, but am open to correct package for Fox
Rs miss POs, keep their 20025 1st
2026 then goes to PIT
so next is 2027

2025 + 2027 R firsts + Fox at 50% max discount 4 yrs = 4.75-ish per
for
BUF 2025 + 2026 1sts, unprotected, and Peterka + a sweetener

something like that

LA not moving youth unless it is an impact guy
I see Shesty is a fit

LA isn't doing the trade, the OP is. What do you think the ratio of posters to trades actually happening is? .0001%

These are only hypotheticals not to be taken seriously.

Counter:

Sabres 2025 1st (top 5), Peterka for
Rangers 2025 1st (12-15), Fox

Leaping into the top end of the draft once better reflects the difference between Fox and Peterka

I have to think about how much I would need you to add
I see you are taking Fox full pop
but 2025 is a suck ass draft and I assume your content in parens is an expectation of where the pick is, not a protection on it

the thing tho is 2026 is the deep draft year
and I have to mull over if removing that is a dealbreaker

Whatever...Buffalo just exist to provide players to other teams. Cozens....just wow Buffalo. And you give him in the same division for the infirmary specialist....so pathetic team.

Buffalo gets taken to the cleaner on trade 1.

Vancouver doesn’t make trade 2.

Trade 3 could make sense value wise. Remains to be seen about fit.

Vancouver would be stupid not to grab Kulich and get out of that 11.6m deal

They gave up Cozens and 2nd for Norris and now add Kulich (clearly underrated here) and Rosen for Pettersson?

top $ yes but no
not overpriced and esp not over the upcoming 8 seasons, his deal will age well

and no
looking for quality youth not vets
He is the highest paid goalie ever but doesn't have the stats or hardware for that kind of price. So yes, he is overpriced! LA doesn't like to pay for high priced goalies. Quick is the highest paid goalie in LA history and that was $5.8m and Shesty is double that. He also doesn't fit the core age LA is building around. The Rangers need to buy vets that fit there core age and try to win it all for the next couple of years before going the rebuild route.

Perreault and Emery fit what the Kings are looking for in a trade. Shesterkin doesn't fit.

1. He is not overpriced, and that he demonstrates that almost every night evidences why he commands that #.
Also, as I said, that contract will age well over time.
Cap is going up and will continue. At no time will it go down.
All Gs will be making more.

2. "LA doesn't like to pay for high priced goalies"
Ks have the right to go that way, but remember, you get what you pay for and you get what you DON'T pay for.

3. "Quick is the highest paid goalie in LA history and that was $5.8m and Shesty is double that."
Quick's LA # = dat wuz den an dis is now.

4. "He also doesn't fit the core age LA is building around"
While nothing is guaranteed, likelihood is he performs at superior/elite level all/most of those next 8 yrs.
So whether that core emerges next yr, or a few seasons hence, Shesty will be there.

5. "Rangers need to buy vets that fit there core age and try to win it all for the next couple of years before going the rebuild route."
No, this is a false narrative.
Rs missed huge on Lias Andersson + Kravtsov, plus multiple stupid rentals in recent yrs. Time to pay the piper for that IS NOW not later
Sell higher end assets and get > $1 value received for $1 paid, which is possible b'c subjective assessment of potential v actual in unproven youth
Waiting til vets decline is stupid.

6. "Perreault and Emery fit what the Kings are looking for in a trade"
While seeking to add youth in exchange for vets, am not opposed to possible youth for youth.

Feel free to suggest something

So the Sabres trade the following:
J.J. Peterka
Bo Byram
Josh Norris
Jiri Kulich
Isak Rosen
Jack Quinn
Jacob Bernard-Docker/Connor Clifton

And receive the following:
Alexis Lafreniere/Will Cuylle
Braden Schneider
Elias Pettersson
Brandt Clarke

Will Cuyle/Alexis Lafreniere - Elias Pettersson - Alex Tuch
Jason Zucker - Tage Thompson - Zach Benson
Jordan Greenway - Ryan McLeod - Beck Malenstyn
Peyton Krebs - Sam Lafferty - Tyson Kozak

Rasmus Dhalin - Brandt Clarke
Owen Power - Braden Schneider
Mattias Samuelsson - Jacob Bernard-Docker/Connor Clifton

Well...it's a different line-up.
