Looks like a pick the other way. Anything more than a 3rd and Kev got worked over for a 7th Dman and a very comparable player.
Meh.

From my limited viewing, Norris is actually competent down the middle. If healthy, I see a top-6C who can score and is solid enough in his own zone. I dont see that in Cozens. He really struggled on the defensive side of the game, but maybe that's come along the past few months.

I'm actually cool with this trade as I like the idea of getting someone who may be a top-6 C if healthy. If healthy is the big concern, but if he didnt have healthy issues, there's no way Cozens would bring him back in a trade.

Maybe someone like @Chainshot and @joshjull or @Jimbob who watch more hockey than me can clarify the type of a player Norris is when healthy.

TSN talking about how Cozens is going to help their toughness.

...their toughness.

👀
I think Cozens having a chance to get a reset, in a room with a guy like Brady Tkachuk might be what Cozens needs, and might bring about the player he showed his first couple of years.

Cozens wasn't going to get that while playing here in Buffalo, especially with how terrible Adams is at dealing with what ails the team and having the quality of coaching staff they have.

Buffalo getting a similar player in terms of upside, while a little more expensive, should help, assuming Norris can stay healthy.

Cozens always bugged me. Could never nail down exactly what he does well. He has bambi legs, any time another skater gets near him he falls over.

I won't question his heart, he tries to hit and fight... he's bad at it but he tries. He can occasionally make a good play or take a good shot. If there's a stat that tracks how often a player falls over relatively unforced, he's gotta be topping the list though. Maybe the change of scenery helps him, I'm a little afraid that it will, if he can get to the point where he's actually able to muscle through NHL opposition from time to time he may be a force, I dunno... but I'm okay with moving on.

Ottawa fans seem to think Norris is one hit away from retirement(I am sure they are exaggerating.)

Imo, the turning point was when Cozens talked about standing in a freezing river all offseason because he wanted to score 30 goals next season.

Yeah no problem trading Cozens, but Norris has injury and struggles. I'm not sure I see the point.

I'm at that point too - a lot of risk for a bigger salary on bad shoulders and inside the division.

Watch them talk about how big of a get JBD is when he's the Sens version of Gilbert in terms of TOI. And he's not thought of as tough to play against either. FFS.

If Norris sucks or is constantly injured I think I'm done watching this team until they prove they can even make the playoffs.

Watching Norris highlights, man that guy loves to shoot low. Seems like every goal is scored with the puck never leaving the ice. Kinda interesting.

This team is screaming for an elite playmaking winger. Would have loved to be in on teravainen whenever he left CAR. My expectations are low

I hated Cozens the player, he was a good guy but man there are few Sabres in history I liked watching less. He never had it between the ears and in his hands to be a good NHL player. From that lens I am happy he is gone.

Man, Norris misses a lot of hockey
