Another person who has no idea what they're talking about.

The hometown connection is pretty much the only reason why he would sign with the Bruins.

My dad has cancer (he should be fine) just like Vesey's dad and while I've been applying to new jobs, I would never take one outside of Boston.

I'm not saying he's 100% coming to Boston but if he is, it's because of the hometown connection. Stop trying to act like you know more than people when you don't.

Obviously. That's what I've been saying this entire thread. I also stated that the hometown connection thing is overblown, which if you look at the history, doesn't have a solid correlation of players going back to their hometown. I don't think he's signing with the Bruins.

With that said, you think Vesey is going to the Maple Leafs? Cause that's where his dad works, and if he really wants to be around his dad during hard times, that's where I think he'd sign. Talk about not knowing what you're talking about.

His dad works for the Leafs, scouting kids from the Boston area. He lives in Boston.:shakehead

LOLLLLL. His dad is based in MA because he is battling an illness(believed to be cancer), so he doesn't travel. Again, it's you who doesn't know what you're talking about :handclap::handclap:

Goes for the take down, slips on a banana peel and takes himself down... :handclap::laugh:

Didn't Vesey's dad say he doesn't want him to play in Boston?

Not trying to throw Boston out of the speculation, but just trying to point something out. I don't know how important that will be when Vesey and his agent are making their decision next week. :dunno:

If the Maple Leafs were your employer, would you come out and say that your own son should play for any team that isn't called Maple Leafs?

True, but perhaps he legitimately didn't want Vesey to play for the Bruins for reasons that don't have to do with his employment with the Maple Leafs?

Just asking.

There's going to be a lot of disappointed Bruins fans when Vesey signs elsewhere next week.

There has been some discussion that Vesey's dad is friends with some senior Leafs management (Shamny?) who hired him only to get him on the medical plan and cover him during his illness

Proving more that you know nothing about Vesey's situation!

Just asking.

If I remember well, he mentioned something about the pressure of playing in Boston, for a Boston kid. Which to me sounds like... an excuse, as in the safest thing he could say as a reason. Truth is, in the Boston area the main course are the Red Sox & the Pats, the Bruins are just a side dish: not under that intense a scrutiny, if you ask me. I don't think Vesey would have that much pressure there.

To me, it truly smells like Vesey Sr. just did a piece of PR to show his employer that he is a faithful "soldier". But then, there's nothing sure, it's just all speculation.

That's bull and you know it. I lived in Boston for yrs and the bruins are just as scrutinized as the rest. Especially once pats are over and all that's left to talk about are the bruins and Celtics

The things is, the Bruins can be contenders with Vesey. If he signs, that makes a young LW expendable - probably DeBrusk. This added to a young D (probably Zboril), and next year's 1st, can easily get us a top defenseman.

When my nephews (now in their mid-20s) were kids they used to say to me "Uncle Dr. Quincy, do you know how much this pokemon card is worth?" And I'd say, "Whatever someone is willing to pay for it." They'd look at me quizzically and say, "No the price guide book says its worth $10."

Point?

While they could say the price guide said that the charzard card was worth $10, if they can't find someone to actually buy it for $10, then it isn't really worth $10.

Debrusk+Zaboril+1st gets you a top Dman.... if a team is looking to deal one. I don't know that any team is in fact looking to do that.

Don't know when you lived here, but Pats are pretty much topic #1 no matter what season.

Strange for me since I grew up in the era of having to stand up with my hand touching the tv's rabbit ear antennas so I could get channel 10 out of providence, because the Pats didn't sell out and weren't on channel 4.

You guys are all gonna look silly when he signs with the Blues. No way he passes up an opportunity to play on a line with Patrik Berglund and David Perron

I like how you signed up to the site just to post the ever so obvious. Which, yes of course, there will be disappointment, just like how any team that's on his short list will be disappointed if he doesn't sign with them. But life moves on and each team ( including the Bruins ) have other prospects/young players they'll give chances to come camp to win spots.
