Oh, soo every time an NHL player is traded for a draft pick or prospect it's lopsided?
pretty much. Until that pick or prospect hits the nhl--the one team has nothing to show for the trade

Man the off season sucked for the oilers
Mcleod 6 goals and 6 assists 10 pts
Broberg 2 goals 7 assists 9pts
Holloway 4 goals 4 assists 8pts
Foegele 6 goals 4 assists 10pts
Ceci 3 assists
Carrick 1 goal 3 assists 4pts
vs
Jeff Skinner 3 goals 3 assists 6 pts
Arvidsson 2goals 3 assists 5pts
Vasili Podkolzin 3 assists
Ty Emberson 1 assists
Looks good on the oilers
Yeah, those guys are great lol.Not really, cap also needs to be factored in.
No way Oilers could keep UFAs Henrique and maybe even Brown without this trade.
Me too. I was more bummed about losing Holloway than I was Broberg to be honest. But that ship has sailed.Honestly I was more bummed about losing him than I was McLeod. He's a lot grittier player than McLeod and almost as fast.
His first season playing pro hockey?Savoie only has 10 points in 16 AHL games. Turns 21 soon. Well on his way to bust territory.
Meanwhile McLeod has been great for the Sabres. Funny to look back on how spectacularly wrong conventional wisdom was about this trade.
If McLeod didn't play so bad in the playoffs, the Oilers probably would have kept him.Savoie only has 10 points in 16 AHL games. Turns 21 soon. Well on his way to bust territory.

I'll bet you wish you still had McLeod instead of Henrique for more money. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Well, he's a driver here, and he's just entering his prime, which is enticing. Young C just entering his prime? Not the type of player to give up on due to a rough playoff run, but Savoie was a good return atleast.McLeod was traded because he was a passenger in the playoffs.
Not really, because even if Henrique doesn't score much, he also doesn't disappear and do nothing for 10 game stretches like McLeod regularly did as an Oiler, which is why the Oilers couldn't keep using McLeod as their third line center. The Henrique, Brown, Janmark line was great in the playoffs and McLeod was one of the worst forwards on the team in the playoffs, most games he did absolutely nothing. We can only compare players on how they played on the Oilers, the McLeod that was on the Oilers was not that good.I'll bet you wish you still had McLeod instead of Henrique for more money.
Cool. Good thing they got rid of him for a smurf winger who can't produce in the AHL in his D+3 season. That will definitely help them in the playoffs. No, because even if Henrique doesn't score much, he also doesn't disappear and do nothing for 10 game stretches like McLeod regularly did as an Oiler, which is why the Oilers couldn't keep using McLeod as their third line center. He couldn't be much worse then what McLeod was in the playoffs last season. I actually like McLeod but he was way to inconsistent and was very disappointing in the playoffs. You can find a replacement for what he brings and not give up a recent top 10 pick.Cool. Good thing they got rid of him for a smurf winger who can't produce in the AHL in his D+3 season. I don't doubt he is. Some players' trajectories change as a result of a trade. I'm reminded of Cogliano who admitted that he needed that jolt to adapt his game.Well, he's a driver here, and he's just entering his prime, which is enticing. Young C just entering his prime? Mcleod is a pending UFA playing for a big payday. Buffalo will pay him whatever he wants because they traded a top prospect for him - the Oilers cannot afford to pay Mcleod. I'm glad you are happy with him, but Savoie is producing on a terrible AHL team (something you ignored).I'll bet you wish you still had McLeod instead of Henrique for more money.
Henrique and Savoie or McLeod? They traded McLeod to sign Henrique. Pretty easily Henrique and Savoie. If McLeod has a great season there is no chance the Oilers could afford to keep him, if he sucked they wouldn't get anything for him.I'll bet you wish you still had McLeod instead of Henrique for more money.
100% never cared for Henrique and would still like McLeod but management soured on him last playoffsI'll bet you wish you still had McLeod instead of Henrique for more money.
I believe McLeod will still be an RFA but that probably still factored into the Oilers trading him. They likely did not feel he was a long term core player. The Oilers can only base their decision on how he played for them and it wasn't good enough in most cases to make any kind of big investment from them.Henrique and Savoie or McLeod?
