McLeod is due for some decent pay raise in couple of years. He has 1 year left on his current deal at 2.1. With 1 year left of RFA with arbitration rights.
His QO will be around 3 million, with arbitration can likely go upwards of 4-4.5 million.
Then he is an UFA, what will he get in 2 years? 4-4.5 million?
Is that the best use of an asset and cap space?
For EdM definitely not and Savoie allows them to reset their asset to an ELC.
For Buffalo, maybe they want to allocate that type of cap space to a middling bottom 6 player.
Edmonton’s top center is going to cost more than buffalos top 2 combined for the next 6 yrs so yeah they can afford to pay a 3c 4.5 mil
Also I think QO is a 10% raise so it will only be 2.3 mil or so…
Correction it’s actually only 2.1 mil
