Confirmed with Link: [BUF/BOS] Henri Jokiharju to Boston for a 2026 4th round pick

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Then we should reacquire him so he burns this franchise to the ground.

Also, there’s probably a hockey/Office Space “TPS” joke floating around in the ether, but I’m too tired to figure it out.
Didn't you see the memo about this? I'm afraid I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in tomorrow, around nine. Mkay?

A 2017 top 10 pick becomes a 2026 4th rounder.
Jokiharju is the prime example of the flaw in Adams' diamond hands approach to his young players (well, him and Krebs anyway). Player development isn't about just holding onto struggling young players forever and hoping they have Tage-esque late career breakouts. You have to make draws about which guys are going to make it and which ones aren't. And you should move on from the guys in the latter category while they still have value.

It's been clear since at least the moment we drafted Power that Jokiharju was never going to be an ideal fit in our top 4. And it took almost 4 years from that date to trade him (4!). In the meantime, his value just continued to dwindle. Terrible asset management.

If we look at the 2017 first round I guarantee there’s players taken much earlier dealt for less or out of the league completely
It was actually 2016, as others have noted. If we went without our consensus here that year, we'd be doing a lot better than Murray's pick with Sergachev or Chychrun. Plenty of good options that year with our pick.

Although in 2017...that draft wasn't as easy. I think Botts did fine with Mitts over our consensus picks here (one of Liljegren/Valimaki/Brannstrom?). I wanted Vilardi badly. Necas was probably the right pick.

There is no defenceman that looks good in the defensive “system” of the sabres

Dahlin looks good just because of his overall talent. Everyone else looks bad at times times. Think about it

Joker is a good defenceman and will look good. It’s the lack of a good defensive system that hirts the Sabres. We have 2 first overall and a 4th overall pick, it’s not the talent level

And that's on the forwards - they don't play winning hockey and leave it all on the defensemen all the time. There is no support when they are out of position (Henri's constant issue, Power's constant issue) or if they fumble the puck (Henri's too).
