So who on the Moose gets the call? Kovacevik would be a good choice.
Previous form suggests Nogier. Recent form argues for Kovacevik.

That zone entry by Connor on the PP was amazing. The man has some hands and some moves. I don't think he typically carries it in on the PP, does he? It's Scheifele or Pionk. He should carry it more often.
Anyone think he's going to hit 40 goals this year? More?
Laine still gets most of the national and international press, but Connor is the true goal scoring phenom on the Jets.
_______________________________________________Really enjoyed that game. While watching the game I noted that the Canucks have a '50' on their uniform - a clear reminder I've hated this franchise for 50 solid years. Never, ever liked them. Kinda weird but true.
Loved Niku's game. He's got some work to do and he also still needs to put on a few pounds because he still looks like a teenager and seems sized as such. But just watching him on offense is a lot of fun, he has really good vision. He seems very smart with the puck, looking for the sneaky play. Hope he can stick.
Very surprised nobody posted the Ikea "start the car" gif because that seemed appropriate as well. Helle was definitely dialed in and earned the shutout for his part, but the 'Nucks are a very good offensive team and coupled with our sparse defense they had ample scoring opportunities. The outcome could have been very different. Do metal posts eat steak dinners, cuz Helle should be buying them one. And please don't take that as criticism of Helle, it's not meant to be, but the puck got past him a fair bit, on very good plays by the 'Nucks.
Lots of good this game, but still come away thinking we got lucky quite a few times. I'll enjoy the win anyway
You can see Niku processing the game MUCH quicker than the waiver wire crew. His puck retrievals and passing are so much quicker. He doesn't spend much time just looking around until a forechecker gets on him, he's usually made a decision before he gets mugged. He's going to be a good one.
KC, quietly (or not so quietly) working his way up in the NHL standings.
I still wish we could bring Heinola back.
Canucks kind of dominated us. Again Helle with the 50000 save shut out
Well with Poolman and now Dahlstrom out he should get a few more games. When does Kulikov come back I wonder?Great examples of that in the sequence beginning around 6:50 of the 3rd in last night's game. Puck's in the corner and he goes in with a Canuck right on his tail, fakes the shovel behind the net and pivots with incredible speed and precision right, leaves the chasing player for dust and makes the neat bank pass, sending the puck round another forechecker and right onto the tape of our winger -- then does it all again later that shift.
He's got a lot to learn, but you can't teach that level of awareness and vision -- and he's always been able to do it, in the D-zone as well as the O, as he showed early on in his career in Finland and then the WJCs, when he was often relied on as a top shutdown defenceman. Has to balance risk and safety, and work hard to keep up with the speed and skill he'll face night in and out now, but if he continues to develop could become a key piece for us going forward, IMO, and not just a depth player on the yo-yo.
As long as gaining weight doesn't slow him down as he has a better chance of making guys miss than ever being big._______________________________________________
If Niku can put on some muscle and weight as you say -- he could be a great defenseman for the Jets. He has great sense for the game, and is a playmaker, with great skating abilities. He's pretty good right now, even if he gets asked for ID going out to a bar.
I think the only thing he lacks is size, but that can be overcome with skill, however he is a bit to thin right now, and will eventually get hurt, especially in the playoffs.
If Niku could gain say -15 lbs of muscle --he'd be dynamite in the future, so I wonder if he just doesn't want to work out? and hit the gym like most players do -- to keep up, and build strength, and muscle.
Niku has "great offensive instincts" - fun to watch in the offensive zone.
He's 16 goals away from 40 with half the season to go.That zone entry by Connor on the PP was amazing. The man has some hands and some moves. I don't think he typically carries it in on the PP, does he? It's Scheifele or Pionk. He should carry it more often.

The trendy xGF has the Jets winning when all scenarios are taken into account. 3.19 xGF, 2.61 xGA.
Some post luck for sure but they didn't steal the game, necessarily.
The game was 3-0 early into the second. I feel some are quick to use "score effects" when talking about how the Jets climbed back into a game they went down in early, but don't use the same theory when the team is up early.
I'd bet for Friday's game if it's just the flu.Well with Poolman and now Dahlstrom out he should get a few more games. When does Kulikov come back I wonder?
Canucks hit 15 posts And still had 40 shots.. 4 0 easily could have been 5 6 3 Vancouver (cuz EN goal)
Those fancy stats seem to mean very little actually. Seems like teams who win the fancy stats battles lose more
Second line had it going on. Copper had a good game.
Really liked what I saw in Niku's game, this kid can handle the puck so nicely.
Isn't a good goalie a lucky goalie?Niku was good. Dahlstrom was having himself quite a game. Unlucky for him to get hurt.
Helle was good ..... but ...... he was very lucky too. Not just the goal posts but also the number of times he was way out of position and 'Nucks didn't notice in time, or fanned on a shot, or just plain missed a wide open net. They easily could have scored 4-5.
That is not on Helle, but once again our D zone play gave the other team a lot of opportunity.
Isn't a good goalie a lucky goalie?

I can't believe the injuries we've had so far this season , i hope our luck gets better soon .
