I mean, Morrissey already got his deal so he shouldn't be too upset. It's not a tough conversation to have: "Josh, we think it's more of a benefit to get you the most possible minutes 5v5 and on the PK so we are going to try Sami on the PP" "Okay Coach"

And what established player was ever okay being moved off the PP so a prospect could get his minutes? If Josh was okay with this I'd be extremely disappointed in him.

I think it would go as well as going up to Laine and being like hey dude right now the pucks not going in for you so when we are chasing I’m gonna give Ehlers some of your 5 on 5 shifts.

It would go worse as Ehlers has actually established himself as a NHL player. As much as I thought Niku had a nice step forward last game he is a long long ways from taking over from Morrissey on the 2nd PP.

Also Morrissey is one of the best PP performers among dmen. He is top 30 in powerplay points among dmen in this league while getting largely second pairing minutes. I like Niku but you don't change out an elite preforming player for a rookie.

If anything Niku becomes a second dmen on the second unit and one of the forwards is removed.

I also echo @Ducky10 that Morrissey's offense seems to be underrated here. He puts up excellent point totals at 5 on 5 despite playing the toughest minutes.

Niku is going to have to show he can play good consistent es hockey to stick in a Maurice coaches team before he even gets special teams consideration. It took Morrissey 2 years before they gave him consistent pp time for instance.

And then JT miller blows up the glass. Why isn't that a delay of game penalty?
