Buchnevich has a lot of talent. If his game was more rounded and consistent he would fit into almost any team's top 6.

I think the Rangers coaching staff/management are a bit frustrated with him and might in fact be open to moving him. He's a player that needs to push himself more. He could turn into a real star or he could end up back in Europe in the next couple years. It's up to him really to take a step forward and IMO he could go either way.

I don't know if he's worth a 1st but IMO he's worth more than a later 2nd. Montreal would have to give me something else.
I think this is well said. They may be open to trade him but he’s certainly a needs to go situation.

No it was a finishing move. You see they already had Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, Wilson, Carlson and Holtby. Then comes the "peaufinage" for a proper run at the Cup. Are we, the Habs, at the finishing stage? **** no. We'll need LD to be a pretender and then put the finishing stages to be a contender. Another 2-3 yrs and we can be there.

Patience for chrissakes.
What are we playing Mortal Combat? It was one of many tweaks the caps made in order to come up with a stanley cup championship team. 10 of the players that played for them in the playoffs were not drafted by them. I suppose they were all finishing moves? Simply stated, if it's a good trade that improves our team then it's worth doing. Period. If you could fleece another team for a young Nhler with term in exchange for a low prospect that might not make the league, then f*** yeah we do it. It's one thing to be patient it's another to limit your scope and let opportunities pass you by.

What if we could trade for a signed Mark Stone with Gallagher, Romanov and a 1st? That would be roughly the value. As much as I love Gallagher Stone is the superior player. Neither Romanov nor that 1st play for the Habs as of right now. It would make us a better team but shouldn't we keep those assets, and if we do trade them trade them for a true hole in our line-up?

I am not averse to trades as long as it's for a true lack and I'm against rentals at this stage of our re-tool. Rentals should be for finishing... or fine tuning if you prefer.

How did we get Drouin, Domi, Tatar, Petry (2nd,5th), Weber, Shaw (2 seconds). Players/picks through the draft. Might not be direct but it's not like they were free agents.

Who's talking about free agent signings? I'm saying developing players through the draft is not the only way to improve the team. In fact if you followed the thread the point I was making had more to do with trading for players and not free agent signings.

The trade suggestion you brought up is an example of a risky trade. Similar but the opposite to when we got Gorges and a 1st(Pacioretty who became tatar, Suzuki and a 2nd) for Rivet. Risky for SJ.
Not the type of trade I'm looking for. Our biggest need is LD. We both agree on that. Imo, our next biggest need is to improve our fourth line. That's the fine tuning I'm talking about. A solid 4th line center that is a faceoff specialist would be nice. I know we are not championship material but improving our team in a safe type trade would be good for us. We are young and need playoff experience to finally achieve the ultimate goal. If we tweak a little and that helps us win a round or two then that experience would help with the growth and confidence of our team. Maybe with a little fine tuning we might knock of the leafs. That's the shits and giggles I'm talking about! Lol

It's the price of that 4th line C at the tdl that has me spooked. Old Man Boyle went for a 2nd just now. Romanov was a 2nd rounder. Brian Boyle for Romanov? That's just crazy talk but yes I agree a 4th line C upgrade would be nice and also Peca was a big disappointment.

p.s. Knocking out the Leafses would be glorious. Oh the hand-wringing that would ensue...

I'll give you a 2nd + prospect from Edmonton easily.

We need wingers badly

You'll regret that. He's had a lot of struggles and if he goes to EDM he'd probably end up in the KHL in short order. He does have talent, but he really hasn't made much of his opportunities in NY, and if anything he's been given a real good shot to succeed.
