The only positive I guess is Kravy and Kakko should see a lot more icetime and hopefully some pp time. Hopefully.Blais and Goodrow should not get in the way of that.
The key now is to not trade away any of our young players! NONE.

Not supremely convinced that building a team from the bottom six up is the most intuitive plan.
We're not though... We have a absurd wealth of top6 talent. Our top6 on offense and defense is essentially set long term.

the much needed balancing is taking place.. It's much more expensive than we have anticipated

Drury taking the slang "deep six" this team by definition

Don't get me wrong. I REALLY like Sammy Blais. He will make the game fun to watch. But the value of this deal will forever outweigh what he brings to the table.
Just said something very similar in reference to moving Strome for Giordano. The player/fit isn’t where I’m taking issue. It’s just a lot of wasted value and that’s frustrating to me. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong and the formula will work for Drury. Just a hard pill to swallow in the moment.

I didnt know Panarin was demoted to the bottom 6?

Are you a fan of this? If not, don't be a smart ass.

If you support it you are as delusional as Drury.

Next is Strome. After that, Zibenejad will eventually be on the chopping block because be isn't tough enough.

I will say this, on positive side: we added a lot of grit and both of them are NHL players. That could have gone a lot worse. As long as I can remember, the Rangers love their ECHL guys who hit sometimes. Neither Goodrow nor Blais is that.
They are for sure NHL players. and for anyone who watched the last 2-3 playoff seasons they are playoffs type players too where the intensity goes up big time.
I think we should be good. No more trades should be influenced by the grit/tough guy need.

They're going to sink or swim with their young wingers at some point, I get that.

I just figured Buchnevich had more value than that. Although you have to keep in mind, that's *one year* Buchnevich.

In a vacuum, I don't hate trading Buchnevich for jam but Blais is not who I would have targeted. He kinda just sucks. The best thing about him is that he's won a Cup. We're overvaluing the "know how to win" thing because of those two Islanders games.

He's "won a cup" and he's "a guy that we're all just gonna LOVE cause he plays hard nosed". He'll just be the guy doing it with 12 minutes of ice time as that's about what he averaged in STL over the last two years. That dropped to 11 min/gm in the playoffs. That placed him around the 11-13th range of STL forwards. Yeah STL sure did love him.

Horrible. If this is the return then you just f***ing keep him and even self rent because he'll actually be worth more to the Rangers in the next season than this return will over the careers of Blias and the likely 2nd round pick

someone buy a hot dog with all the mustard in the world on it and wait for Drury to come out of his office and throw it at him

It’s amazing every offseason we see this where a really good player goes for shit, and we hear about “the market wasn’t there for a guy who has one year left”

And then all the GMs create a “housing market in spring 2021” market for 20 games of absolutely average players at the TDL

every. Single. Time

Moving Buch moves Kakko up the lineup

Yea probably. But it also could mean moving Chytil to 2C and putting Strome on his RW to take faceoffs. Leaving Kravtsov on the 3rd line for now I assume. I would much rather see both Kakko and Kravtsov getting top 6 chances if we are giving Buch away for practically nothing.

Relax. Obviously the return is not what anyone expected. But the hyperbole through the thread and even in your post is absurd.

As for strome I am more than ok if they trade him.

I agree... Drury is overpaying though. Is it desperation? rookie mistakes? other GMs taking advantage either way.

top6 grind would be preferred though

I'm waiting for the other shoe filled with salt to fall into the wound, like Buch signing with STL for something like 4.5m x 7 years.
