Fkn love Chris Neil. You guys are lucky to have him. Tough as nails.

He's a gem, but he's clearly slowing down at this point in his career, will enjoy him while he can still play.

I feel the same way about Chara, and Lucic. You guys got two absolute freaks on D and F with those two. I enjoy watching them smack the habs around :)

Do you attribute Karlsson's apparent decline to the lingering effects of his injury? I thought he had recovered. Perhaps the departure of Alfredsson has something to do with it.

Part of it is still injury related. He has said that the foot still doesn't feel the same and likely never will. The issues are his pivots, he really struggled with them when he came into the league and then over came it only to have a reset happen. When you see him make a defensive error half the time its because he couldnt turn quickly enough which is odd considering how strong he is at all other aspects of skating.

Ottawa was a non playoff team last year, and are currently out of the playoff picture this year if playoffs started today, ergo, tonights game was a meaningless, ugly win against a team they should beat handily anyway because.....context.

Ottawa is currently 7th in the East point percentage wise

so they did beat a current playoff team without there #1 Dman and #1 Center...great win

Great performance by Tuukka tonight as well. Need him in these desperate times.

Really need Bergeron 0G 4A in his last 10

and

Smith 1G 3A in his last 10 to get going if they do watch out! This offense will be putting up 3goals a night consistently

Just finished watching the game.

Good game overall. I thought Fraser looked good and that was before his two snipes.

Good thing we didn't bought out Kelly. Stepped in nicely next to Lucic.

Rask had a nice game. Couple of nice saved early.

Despite miraculously hitting the net and scoring, another bad game by Seids who was directly responsible of the two Ottawa goals.

5-2-0 in the last 7. But it was only the Senators...

Not sure. I always considered Karlsson average/sometimes good in the defense department, this year he's been completely atrocious and is getting walked on a game by game basis. That's never happened before. His overall game is declined compared to his previous form, and he looks lazy out there now. Pre-injury Karlsson was absolutely dominant, I haven't seen that same player since the injury. I hate Matt Cooke. I'd say the issues are probably more mental right now.

Even before his injury I thought Karlsson was less than average defensively, not as bad as he was in this game though.

Hopefully, he won't be out too long. Good thing that we play only two games next week and that it is against the Florida and Edmonton powerhouses...

it`s against teams like the Panthers and Oilers that worry me, too often I find the B`s get lulled into the opponents game, let`s hope they play with the same zip they had last night

I'd roll:
Lucic-Krejci-Griffith
Marchand-Bergeron-Smith
Fraser-Soderberg-Eriksson
Paille-Campbell-Kelly

Kels gives us much more depth playing on our 4th line. Fras belongs on the left side, so keep him there. Still think we should make a move for a top 6 right shot RW once Chara and Krug return. Then we would be a pretty complete team with that piece. A contender.

Something like this looked right on paper at the start of the season but I can't see any reason why Kelly deserves a demotion. I wield actually like to see how he does playing consistently with Lucic and Krejci. Swap him with Griffith.

I have been wondering for the past 5 or so games if Bergeron has an injury. He has looked off to me. There was a game where it seemed like he lost every face off and had a problem shooting. Maybe I am imagining things but it looked that way to me and he is looking better now.

oddly enough, I would be curious to see if the presence of Kelly on the 4th from time to time could kickstart a bit of offensive contributions from that line

Haven`t been disappointed with them as they are playing steady but...

I think he`s just the perfect 3rd line guy, played ok last night with Looch and and Griff but no way I want him there for long

Something has to be ailing Bergeron at this point. I may have missed it in a thread somewhere but it's been a number of games he hasn't looked like himself.

Optics. Kelly on the 1st line just doesn't look right. But if he's getting the job done well and contributing in so many ways like he has been.. then he is earning it. Not a long term solution for sure though.
