Yes but if we’re gonna pay him 7.5 million a year he needs to produce more playing first line minutes and first line PowerPlay. tanev had effort and chance too. Just sayin.I am a huge fan of PLD but a lot of people have been pumping tires this season. The best players on The team need to produce. It’s not like he has bad linemates he’s got one of the best passers and scorers playing with him.
Yup, if he wants big cash then he needs to be in the 65-75 point range and not the 60 point range he is pacing.

Probably looking at a soft rebuild. Get Dubois under a long term contract, dont add any other big contracts. Ride out Wheeler's contract. Maybe dangle Scheifele and Helle for possible trade for picks (as I doubt they'll re-sign here). keep Lowry as the "dead man walking" coach for the next couple seasons. Keep vets like Connor, Dubois, Ehlers, Morrissey, Pionk, and k. Lowry (need vets for young guys to learn to be a proffesional athlete). Draft and develop.
There's 0 chance Lowry is the coach at the the start of next season. Right guys? Guys?......

I understand all the love for pld. But he hasn’t exactly been lighting it up the last 15 games. People are too busy focussing on 55 and 26 Bashing. most crucial time of the year last month and we’re gonna need more than what he’s provided offensively. It will be interesting to see how much he gets in the summer especially if he’s sitting at 55 points.
He likes it here.

The Wings played last night and flew 3.5 hours to Winnipeg last night.

If not for Hellebuyck, they would have had more goals.

Our Power Play gives up a short handed goal and the same unit is put right back out on the ice.

There is no accountability on this team.

Winnipeg Jets teams of the past won championships wearing those jerseys.

We embarrassed them and we embarrassed ourselves.

The first unit not getting their asses stapled to the bench after that drove me nuts. If anyone wants to know the reason this team sucks, its summed up in that chain of events.

No accountability. None. Zero.

I have this horrible fear that Chipman hasn’t the stomach for tough, bold decisions.

I mean he made the decision to bring the NHL back to this market, that is a bold decision.

I think he gets too tied up into the loyalty principle of the business but I have no doubt he is capable of making tough decisions. Usually when things start hitting the wallet things start to change quickly.

What a joke, time to clean house, Chevy, Lowry , all the assistant coaches and Scheifele. Stanley is horrible and any coach that would play him over Heinola needs a slap . Just embarrassing to lose at home AGAIN with rest and Detroit playing last night.

I don't see how they can bring him back. The players didn't respond at all to him and I think the org is going to be in damage control mode this summer. They are going to have to show the fans that they are willing to make changes and a whole new coaching staff is one of the more visible ways that they can show fans that they are serious about correcting the problem.

I didn’t even have to watch this game to know they’d lose. And frankly, they deserved it. This team for YEARS has been a paper tiger propped up by Helle.

They have no compete.

They have no concept of how to sustainably create offence

They have no concept of how to defend

They have no concept on adherence to structure

They have no concept of self-awareness

Just a bad team. Disappointing but looking at things from a neutral\positive perspective.. many of us on these forums called out these issues a few years back and recognized we were being propped up by 37. Now, sweeping change is coming… and that’s okay. It needs to happen and I’ll respect the organization more so for making the tough decisions for long term success.

Does anyone really think that Chevy can turn this around in 1 year, new coaching staff is a start and some shedding of players might help and hope that 2 particular prospects are the real deal but next year will be an up and down season.

Did anyone see the Flames going from zero to hero this year? It can be done but it will take the right coach that can get these guys dialed in again. It likely also takes a change in leadership and a real hard talk and possible trade of 55. You can't have your best player dog it like he has, it sets the absolute wrong example for the rest of the team to follow. We need everyone pulling in the same direction and giving it their all. Hopefully this year has humbled a lot of our players and they go and bust their asses this summer.

As a fan and SSH I can handle up and down. The apprarant absolute lack of compete level at times and inability to string more than the odd period together to me is a real problem. A team that competes night in and night out and loses hockey games due to youth in the lineup, a bounce here or there, getting out goalied can be acceptable. What we have had to witness this season is a hot mess. There may be no easy fix. Cleaning out the coaching staff, attempting to bring in some depth and moving on from some players is a start. Bring me up and down.

And precisely why we need a change at GM as well, Chevy had his ten years with little to show for it!

Stanley is f***ing awful. How he dressed over Heinola is baffling. He isn't even strong on the puck anymore. He's timid, gets outmuscled and makes terrible reads and plays.

I'm done watching for this year. See y'all in the fall. Go Blue Jays! Go Bombers! Go Team Canada!

Oh I'm firmly on board for turfing Chevy, he really hasn't won any trades he has made, his ufa pickups aren't significant pieces and his drafting after the first round in average at best. Will Chevy still be the GM next year, in all probability yes.
