In the NHL it's next to impossible to win a cup if one of your players is making an 8 figure salary
Dubas didn't just make "some" mistakes. He made a fatal mistake - a vision that you could just outscore your opponents on the way to the Stanley cup
The Tavares signing in 2018 and the amount of the contract was a colossal blunder. The team didn't didn't need him at that point in their rebuild. The only time you pull a move like that is if you're trying to draw fans into your arena or you're on the verge of winning the cup and need to get over the hurdle. $11 mil wasted for the next seven years
We all know what happens after that with Nylander, Matthews and Marner so no need to go there
Anyone with half a brain knows that in any sport, the path to a championship revolves around your defense.
Dubas went all-in on offense and got caught
Some of these fans have a weird way of showing itNobody is really mad at him. Some posters just can't admit Dubas has made some mistakes, so they try to blame Lou.
Obviously you didn't read the entire post, lolAnd I guess the right vision is winning without outscoring your opponents?
Missing their best goal scorer. Lee and Walstrom.
I don't know what he actually did as the GM of our team. Crazy I know.
Has this been copied and pasted from the last two years?

So basically everything that Kyle has achieved since he's been GM is to add Muzzin and Campbell via trade, and Brodie Tavares and Holl via UFA. And in order to achieve that, he's traded away a dozen players, about a dozen draft picks and let about half a dozen players walk. You're assuming one of these teams will win the cup.
I think Kyles approach to get "tougher and more experience" was the right approach but the wrong people. Jumbo, simply can't play any more, he's legs are slow and brain is slow. Simmonds, while had a good start with us, when he came back looked a lot like the Simmonds in Buffalo the year before, he seemed to be slow to the play and not impactful on a single shift. Bogo played well for us, Spezza played well for us. Engvall and Mikeyve (as much as it hurts me to say this about Mikeyev) were just there, not contributing to the on ice product.
You can change the DNA of this team considerably in the off season, say, Andersen is gone, say Kerfoot is picked up in the expansion draft, Thornton is gone, Simmonds is gone, trade Engvall and Mikeyev for a low pick. that leaves us with the need to find a 3rd line and a 4th line. Maybe you trade Dermott, that leaves us with a need for a 5/6/7 defender. Every good team has a half dozen really good players, like the Leafs, its the complimentary payers that will push you over the top.
I think in the new season, we need to build 3 lines around the 11 mil players, getting paid that sort of cash means you are a line driver, a difference maker, you should be able to make players who play with you better. Give each line around 18 to 20 minutes a game, let the 4th line play 3 or 4 minutes a game and have them as the PK specialist, banger crasher, speed line. Opposing teams can't line match 3 lines if we are built right. Where Tavares is getting older and slower, maybe you cut his minutes a little and give more to the 2 top lines.
This has about $61 mil tied up, 4th line should cost you no more than $2.5 mil. bottom 2 defenders should cost you no more than $1.75 mil. that brings you around $65 mil, gives you 16 mil for 6 roster spots, back up goalie 1 mil, 66 mil, 5 roster spots $15 mil to spend.

Ok.Lou is getting saved by Trotz who he got handed on a silver platter.
Lou himself wanted to go to the Isles to work with his son.I bet Loe is walking around with a wry smile every spring knowing Shanahan backed the wrong horse
This is an example of where I question Dubas’ “analytics” or at least how he applies them
Both Leo and Matt Martin enjoy regular shifts in the post season on a final 8 team... again.
but not good enough for ours?
If the Islanders play boring hockey, well I’ll take boring hockey any day over the tripe Toronto’s been exposing us to. Funny seems every year I have to wait until Leafs are eliminated to experience exciting hockey. I bet Loe is walking around with a wry smile every spring knowing Shanahan backed the wrong horse.......

And over in Tampa, the Lightning played the entire season without an injured Kucherov. Finished the season 2 points behind us.That's right ..
NYI's are missing their Captain and leading goal scorer .. Anders Lee only played in 27 games this year scoring 12 times before being lost for the season, but in his last 3 1/2 season he has scored 100 goals.
Yes, it seems that there are many that believe only Kid Kyle and his assistants are able to finesse a tight cap situation.
I suppose if you're willing to throw 1st round picks, and young wingers overboard, then it's not so hard.
Anyone checked out the clearance rack for next seasons bottom six yet?

It’s not just called depth.
It’s quality depth. You need that mid level 3/4 million guys.
Not 40 million
Then 1 million.
I have the answer.Seriously how do you give in to Marner @ 10.893x6 when Kutcherov was making 9.5x8 ?? He is Marner with a shot and does not shy away from contact. How the hell are we supposed to compete with TB when their stars are taking 2-3m less Dubie dollars? Answer, you can't.
You mean the way Sweet Lou tossed Devon Toews overboard? No, Sweet Lou would never do that...
You Lou worshipers would be losing your minds if Dubas gave away a player of Toews caliber like Lou did lmao
