Feels like we could selloff assets tomorrow for a Kings ransom, is that the route you'd go? Dump Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, Campbell and start all over again? Can't say I'd blame you
Never. I’d have everything on the table but I’m looking for smart hockey deals for the right players. Hard to imagine I’d move Matthews or Rielly. I’m trying to build around them, not parlay them.

I already said, my first task would be a very tough conversation with John Tavares about his NMC. Moving him for a 2C and cap space could open some interesting possibilities.

Because I didn’t sign him, I have no allegiance. Business is business.

Lou did his time in New Jersey, he is an accomplished GM respected by his peers (other club's GMs) and trusted he'll handle FAIR contract negotiations...... who did the Leafs decide to continue working with?

That's what actually nauseating.
Love the avatar, it's inspired

You're not winning anything with that defense.
Agreed. But with absolutely everything at their disposal, I believe 50% of the posters would've made the right decisions to see the Leafs win a playoff round, including yourself.

ya that Marleau contract, Zeitsev one. Oh he even traded just last year Devon Toews. Well respected blunders. Offered Tavares 8/11.25 per (more than Leafs I believe). Umm what else. Let’s do New York? Matt Martin, Leo Komorov. I’m sure there’s others.

btw these are moves done by a GM who’s been in the league 40 years.

maybe Trotz (you know, the coach who won the cup the year before he went to NYI) is the reason? Cause it sure as shit isn’t Lou.

I’m done with this convo tho. It’s just circles.

I love how you guys keep ranting about about how bad the 3 time SC winning, HOF, reigning executive of the year is, as his team advances to the Final Four........again.

BTW, when your hero Kid Kyle won the Calder Cup, he did it under Lou's mentorship. :biglaugh:

Anyone says hitting doesn't matter this series is a living proof

Vegas wearing out avs d. They have tuned it over so many times

Myself? No doubt about it.

But 50% of this board? I don't think so. We'd have 90% roster turnover year over year. And no coaches.

Lou brought in Trotz, your boy brought in his buddy Keefe.. they are not even on the same league (literally).

Anything Kyle touches turns into crap. Here's an example of how awful his vision is, I will never forget the time when he shipped out Curtis McElhinney so that the can bring up Garrett Sparks as our Goalie of the Future... Garrett frickin' Sparks.

What a moron.

Curtis was claimed via waivers, and has generally stunk since leaving us.

Unbelievable how much egg you have on your face.

Garrett Sparks is a minor league goalie. This is obvious. Garrett Sparks was deployed as the tank commander to finish last and draft Auston Matthews. Great job, soldier!

Problem arose when Kyle Dubas couldn’t make the distinction between a big leaguer and a minor leaguer thus created a problem for himself in goal with another bad decision that took a season and a half to fix.

Sweetheart, stand down. You're tilting at windmills again.

Sparks sucks. McEelleney also sucks, he was no big loss. Campbell is considerably better.

And the year and a half they didn’t have a serviceable backup because he gave theirs away?

Love to hear you twist that into a positive.

You can carry on sounding like a child, and with a very novice perspective on the game of hockey. Making people laugh is always good, I guess.

Lol. Sweetheart, you've been getting embarrassed in the Islanders threads by multiple posters for two days now, and yet you keep coming back for more. You truly are a masochist.

McElleney is a mediocre backup, on par with Hutch, and marginally better than Sparks. Sparks was a small gamble that didn't work out, but it ultimately didn't matter and Dubas redeemed himself with Campbell.

Now for the love of god, stop making a fool out of yourself and get some sleep.

Draper, but yeah. Those were some really fun years.

He’d rip your heart out, and always seemed to rise when the stakes were highest. I’d take him on my team any day.

You are correct, sir.

No player in NHL history raised their game in the playoffs better than Claude Lemieux.

LOVED his game from the time he broke in with Montreal. To say he was a nasty player would be an understatement. An absolute stone cold killer.

THAT’S what wins playoff games, my friends.

Mcellney sucks this year but im 2019 he was a great 1B and 2020 a solid backup of him was an elite backup. Your just typing to defend dibas at this point if your not fact checking

Sparks 2018/2019

.891 and 3.15 GAA --> 20 GP

Sparks 2019/ 2020 (vegas)

.857 and a 4.38 GAA in less than 30 mins of Playing time

He's become a career crappy goalie since we brought him up and let Mcbackup leave

Mcback up stats 2018/2019

.912 and a 2.58 GAA in 33 games played

Mcbackup in 2019/2020
.906 and 2.89 GAA in 18 games played

That poster is correct we wasted about 1.5 years with Sparks + Hutch as Mcbackup was comfortably better than both in 2019 and 2020 and only when we got Campbell did we get someone better than him for the backup portion.

We ended up waiting 1.5 years for Campbell and Sparks hurt us heavily in 2019 costing us a shot at 2nd in the division while Hutch last year cost us a chance to be higher than 8th seed in the east at the time of covid with him costing us games and a chance to move above the isles and get the Panthers in round 1

Yeah.. but if you’re not in asset accumulation, and aren’t pressing to win, you’re in the middle which is the worst spot to be in pro sports... especially without a first.

Dubai’s took over a 105pt team that was loaded with young controllable talent, lots of draft picks and a ton of cap room.

And he’s been pissing that wealth of assets away ever since he took over as GM.

Aside from wasting all the cap space, the majority of his trades have been a total waste of assets.

Dealing Kadri for Kerfoot and Barrie - - then letting Barrie walk for NOTHING. That’s a textbook waste of assets all around. Bad trade to begin with and only made worse after Barrie walked.

Dealing a 1st plus two 4th founders for a damaged goods plugger like Foligno was a colossal waste.

He gave them absolutely NOTHING in the regular season or the playoffs and he’s almost assuredly gone in the off season.

What a waste. That’s so Dubas.
