He stopped Marchand point blank from the high slot. That was the second best save of that game.

I agree - Georgie had a couple of really, really good saves on the same PK late in the 2nd that he almost made look easy. They weren't status quo types either. Marchand glove save and the east/west one timer save. Those right there we're supposed to build on, he kept us there. We couldn't convert against Rask - not surprised against him.

I don't think it was unrealistic to get a couple of big saves from Igor, Rask did it for Boston and that's one of the best defensive teams in the NHL for a decade. The point is Georgiev shouldn't be starting this much, Quinn thinks he's better than he is.
While I generally agree, we were going on a game every other night schedule starting with the Islanders for two weeks, with one back-to-back. Igor wasn't going play in all of them. Now, the first Flyers game got canceled so that's nice, but how would have you gone with the rotation? 8 (now 7) games in 13 days. Georgijev was going to get at least 2 of them, maybe 3.

Well I guess even though I was petitioning for Shesterkin to start the Islanders game, that game was better to start Georgiev.

I don't know, if I knew that he would play Igor like a starter I'd feel more comfortable even with this start. I can't get out of my head Quinn starting Shesterkin in that Pens game.

The Rangers didn't allow a lot of great chances this game. And whenever they did it was a goal. If he's getting played like a 1B he should be able to make big saves.

And he did, as has been pointed out to you. But beyond that, any game where the goalie allows 2 or fewer in regulation is not one where you can justifiably complain about the goaltending unless the team gave up fewer than 20 shots in the game... and maybe not even then.

29/31 in regulation is a situation where you can't ask anything more from your goalie. I'm not including OT because it's a situation specifically designed to be a low SV% five minutes.

If Igor was playing to his abilities, there would be no 1B. Both aren’t playing at 100% talent level.

Igor is playing at 80% of his abilities. But look at his numbers lately, they've been very good. I was really disappointed that he gave up those 2 goals against the Islanders but overall he's been much better. Georgiev is probably at like 70% of his abilities, but him at 70% if like 50% of Shesterkin.

This really has been a frustrating start to the season, but not for the reasons I expected.

I expected there to be adjustment from Laf, but I also did expect a tiny bit more by this point.

I expected significantly more from Zibanejad.

I didn't expect us to count on guys like Rooney, Blackwell (pre-injury) and PDG.

I expected more from Kreider.

I've been a staunch supporter of Strome but his dumbassery is at a whole new level this year.

The Rangers miss DeAngelo. Say what you want, bury your head in the sand, idc. It is obvious. They need to find a way to replace him and fast.

It is good to see Sheshty and Georgiev playing at the level we expect.

I don't have a problem with Quinn. I don't think he is that bad. But I think the team they have built is not the right fit for a coach like him.

The whole team just feels...off. And like they're snakebitten.

It feels like every time we make a mistake--someone blows a tire, we have any easy clear and flub it, someone gets a puck stuck in the skates leading to a turnover, etc.--it ends up in the back of our net. And when those things happen to the opposition, we blow the glorious chance by either taking one too many passes or (like Zib last night) just fail to put the damn puck in the net.

The PP is obviously a huge concern. If Zibanejad could recover and get back on track, that would be hugely helpful. Without him, we move the puck around like dynamos but lack a real sniper out there.

Also, I'm not super enthusiastic about the goalie play. I don't think Shesterkin has been bad or anything, but I don't feel like he's in "game-stealing" mode where he's going to go out and win us a game we otherwise should have lost. Georgiev is Georgiev--I said all off-season we should have traded him because I wasn't sure that his value would ever be higher, kinda feeling like that was correct.

All in all a good game by the youngest team in the league with a couple of mentions....our PP still is broke and of course the over passing . We outplayed and outchanced the division leaders and easily enough should have won in regulation...got a point in a loss ...that is a positive all day long and the kids played well . Hopefully Laf can step up and eat some Panarin minutes if he misses some games and Mika looked good . We are on the right track I do believe but the kids MUST get the ice time to improve .

Also...I'm a bit worried on MacGuire man crush for Fox...he tossed Crosby away just like that...how fickle ! Now I can read the 20 pages to catch up....

Buch is not a 1st liner, simple as that. Not enough skill, no finish. A very good middle sixer. Kreider too.
YES !!! This is right on the money . Kreider had one EXPLOSIVE/warp speed shift last night....I thought it was Usain Bolt on skates for one 10 second blitz through the middle...late in the game.

I know it's not a big deal but Marchand doing that shit to Panarin knowing he was hurt says a lot about this team. Then he comes out in OT and scores the game winner. The team has no balls and no heart and everyone laughs at character and grit but you need it in this division and this team doesn't have enough of it. Not enough players willing to go to the dirty areas on the ice. Too many "shucks, we will get them next time" guys on this team that are content with losing. It's embarassing and it's a reflection of the coach imo. Everything is perimeter hockey and behind the net
Answer: Gerard Gallant . Team would play a more intense in your face Canadian game with him but the GM would have to be on board with that and make moves to provide a couple of players with that frame of mind . We are not that far off of that if guys buy in to it....we are closer than many here think and I still think 2023 is going to be huge if they get on this roster fixing stuff sooner then later . Gallant I'm sure can develop kids as well . He certainly never had these riches in either Florida or Vegas to work with .

tbf he won us the Pittsburgh game where we got dummied the first two periods.

Blaming a 3-2 OT loss to one of the best teams in the league, when the losing team is still building, on the goaltending and/or coach is frankly really dumb.

A low scoring OT loss in that situation is a really good thing.
Rask (one of the best NHL goalies) stood on his head in terms of making saves on high danger chances). Otherwise everywhere else last night the Rangers were a better team than other of the best teams in the league.

Seriously, the kid could’ve posted 2+2 and I wouldn’t have felt any different about what I’m seeing. He’s getting it. You can literally see it game by game.

Kakko is also coming off a string of games that are really good. He played nearly 20 minutes tonight and was quietly part of that second goal.
Do you ever think about Laf as someday being experimented with as a C @Edge ? It certainly could solve many needs for this club with him and Mika / Chytil down the middle moving forward . Who else has come into the league as a #1 Winger and made the change ?

Not something I see on the horizon.

I agree with the snake bitten part. That is why I generally feel that a turnaround is coming. At some point, puck luck has to go the other way, no?

Last year, the Bruins out chance and pour in 40 shots on goal on this team. This year's version is actually even younger than last years and look at the difference. They are outshooting their opponents and out chancing their opponents. There is generally not a lot of high danger shots that are being taken on the Rangers.

Nah man, you're just impatient! We will win 60+ games a year for the next 10 years and win 4-5 cups in a row. Just be patient! Everything is perfect and going as planned!

Why go around from thread to thread, posting the same thing over and over again? Isn't one spot enough?
I was just telling him be patient because that's the main issue right? You're saying everyone is impatient and everything is fine so i don't see an issue.

Maybe we're defying the whole team "being off" differently but I see a lot of cohesiveness as in team's structure - something that we haven't seen in the last couple of years. Definitely result of maturation and / or better personnel, IMO.

David Quinn should be fired sooner rather than later. This team is unprepared in every game, there is zero offensive flow, the pp is trash, and guys just dont give a shit. f*** this coach and get a real professional in here.

If you believe the guys don't give a shit, that's 100% on them.
