Team showed up for one period.

And didn't even have a lead after that period, no less.

Could've and should've been a 3 or 4-0 lead after 1. Game should've been out of reach. Instead, Rask kept them in it and the rest is history.

Now we have a goaltender that was admittedly having confidence issues earlier in the year coming off a 6 goal drubbing where his rival totally out-played him. That should help the old psyche.

Love Lundqvist, but he's not the same goaltender this year he's been in year's past.

If Hank plays any deeper in net, he'll be in the net.

This might have been his worst game of his career. There's no denying he looked BAD.

Gold or Silver has nothing to do with it.

We don't care about the Olympics more than the Rangers. Hank let in 6 goals tonight. That is why he is being trashed.

I understand that. But it's a highly competitive form of hockey where he PROVED he is elite. Prior to that, he was absolutely a rock for the Rangers.

Two games later? Talbot > Lundqvist.

That's what I have a problem with. Two so-so games (and he wasn't that bad in his first game back, quite frankly, he could have let up more) doesn't make him a trash goaltender when he was a rock for his team all of January/February and was a rock for his nation at the highest level of international play.

Put things in perspective.

Lundqvist could use some of that Tony Siragusa manhood guard stuff.

Cam Talbot, the career AHL/NHL Backup goalie, rightful team Canada starter and the rightful 2014 gold medalist >>>>>>>>> Henrik Lundqvist, the 5 time Vezina finalist, Vezina winner, 2006 gold medalist, NYR MVP for a decade, 30th all time in wins, and 28th all time in shutouts

AINEC

Lundqvist has like 30 more shutouts than Talbot has NHL games played.

why do people post stuff like this?

What does this have to do with Lundqvist playing like crap tonight? Why does, every time he plays bad, someone feel the need to be like, "BUT HE'Z DUN ALL DIS STUFF BE4?"

Who cares? He sucked tonight.

Mental toughness remains an issue for this team. Dominating in the first period with only one goal to show for it actually caused them to lose momentum.

Yeah two games. Big sample compared to the previous 20. What a tool. We get it, you don't like Lundqvist.

You're using 2 games to validate your opinion of him over the previous 20.

And Lundqvist is the one that needs a reality check?

I can't even take these forums seriously.

You know why? If Lundqvist pitches a shutout in the next game then we will be back to "King is back!" and we will have a slew of comments in "Just How Good Is This Team" thread about how this team is a contender.

It's one bad ****ing game. Get over it already.

Talbot isn't as good as Lundqvist. He isn't now. He never will be. He will never take a team to the Stanley Cup. Talbot will never win a Gold Medal. He will never win a Vezina. That's a reality check for you guys on the forum. Let that sink in.

19/46 Games this season with a SVPCT under .900

11/45 allowing 4 goals or more -- 25 pct

22/45 allowing 3 goals or more -- almost 50 pct of his games.

What team are you watching this season?

Except this is largely the same defense as 2 years ago. The difference? They had a Vezina goalie in net, now they have swiss cheese.

So you can honestly watch this game and tell me the only difference between the two teams was the goalie? You think the Rangers had the same level of opportunities that the Bruins were getting? If so, you and I clearly watched a different game. What chances did the Rangers have that were on par with the Bruins first 5 goals?

Richards gets an A for effort but a B- overall this year. He should go.

If this team can somehow get Vatenen they have one PP QB.

Fast has been playing the right point in Hartford. Would it kill the continent to give him a crack with the big club?

Team misses Zuc too.

I don't know if I trust Vatenen to take a job this big. I mean it's one thing to QB a PP that has Perry, Getzlaf, Fowler and Selanne on it. It's another to be THE GUY as a young player on a team with no finishers.

If Hank plays any deeper in net, he'll be in the net.

Agreed. I don't have a weird vendetta against Hank like some other people in this thread, but there's no doubting that he let in some ugly goals he shouldn't have. I think what happened is that he started retreating further and further into the net because he lost confidence in himself... and once he lost confidence in himself, everything went further into the crapper.

Call me naive, but I think some solid practice time with the goaltending coach will do him well. We've seen that he can play like a beast... he just psyched himself out. His team getting shut out out in the gold medal game of the Olympics by a 26 year old probably doesn't do well for any insecurities, either...

Hank had a ****** game. The defensive coverage had a worse one (and that includes the forwards backchecking).

That said, the Hank hate is silly. He had a bad start to the year, then regained his form for two months up to the break, had a great Olympics and now has had two bad games upon his return. He needs a game off and the team needs to get past the deadline.

Of course, prior to the deadline Cally, Stralman and one of the fourth liners all need to be traded.

Who did he beat in Sochi?

He shut out the Swiss. Big deal.

He gave up three to the Latvians. The Latvians. A bunch that may have a slightly better than .500 record in the AHL.

He shut out Anze Kopitar and a bunch of other ECHL caliber players.

Then he beat the Finns. Too bad the Finns seem to be a bigger rival than the Penguins.

A good team should be able to win a game by scoring three goals.

This game is on the defense and goaltending.

Thank goodness baseball season is right around the corner...oh wait I'm a Mets fan

..Me too!

Sometimes I think the only reason I like this team, right now, is Ryan McDonagh.

Oh well. I honestly don't care. We're probably a playoff team, but we're certainly not contenders. Getting in and watching some playoff hockey - maybe knocking off a team in the first round and even giving another a challenge for a but - will be fun, but I have absolutely no illusions about actually contending, even if we were to win every single game remaining in the regular season.

This team simply isn't a Cup team. That's fine. Keep building. I'm much more concerned about doing something stupid at the deadline, some kind of idiotic win now move, or handing out a horrible contract to Cally than I am about dropping these past two games. I'll be a lot more mad if we do something stupid than I will if we miss the playoffs this year. I do think we'll get in though. I just don't think there's any point in doing something to "help our chances" when we simply don't have a chance at the cup to begin with. Be realistic, be smart, build with a plan. Don't do something stupid. Please. That's all.
