Thanks for sharing and I agree this pick was a swing for the fences.

I guess that means zero prospects will be attending this tournament. I miss Locmelis already :p
Another year of watching no prospects, kinda sad.

I’d rather watch the bruins in the playoffs for 20 years than watch 3 prospects compete at the world jrs.
Kind of a false dichotomy there.

One of the main reasons they were able to make the playoffs for 20 years was they had prospects that were high end and competed in the world jrs-

Bergeron
Krejci
Rask
Marchand
McAvoy
Pasta
just to name the most important ones.

I think the fact that they haven't had a lot of guys lately says something about the near future prospects of the team.

Such a perfect move sending Poitras to the AHL. This is going to be so good for him. He can grow his offensive game without worrying about mistakes. Does not need to rely on his biggest strength, which is playmaking, and instead can be a goal scorer.

We may see him again for the playoffs.
Agreed and a refreshing move, too often teams push younger players into action before they are ready. Now, Poitras did very well with his short introduction last year but with the injury/surgery, he looked to be a bit behind which is to be expected.

Factor in he didn`t/doesn`t have to clear waivers and to send him down, work on his development and let him marinate, IMO, will pay off in spades down the road. I suspect we`ll see him again this year but lots of kids would have taken that demotion and sulked, sure doesn`t seem that`s part of Poitras character and he`s producing in Providence.

How easily people just cast Dans Locmelis aside smh
they do this with many prospects, the fans that really make me shake my head are the one`s who do so having never seen the kid play

I can`t say much about Locmelis as the only times I have really seen him play has been when he`s represented Latvia where he has done very well and I`ve liked his game, no clue what or if this translates down the road in the NHL or with the B`s but..

I think I`m putting this in the thread most closely tied to it. Nfld is getting a shot at a Junior team, this time it`s Acadie-Bathurst losing it`s team and relocating to Nfld, other teams have made a go of it but not with pockets as deep as this group

He played against Shattuck St Mary's team that the writer (Colin Johnson) is talking about and did well against them.

I found the game sheets for two of them, one win and one loss. His stats were 5 goals one assist. They lost 2 other games but no stats are available.

I want both, a team that makes the playoffs and has prospects at the world juniors ( like T bay , Dallas, ). Is that too much to ask?
We are the only team in the league without a player to watch.

Is it true that 31 of 32 teams have a prospect at the tournament

After watching Lysell in the tournament 2 years ago, I can live without anyone in the tourney. That was not in any way a positive experience for anyone (including fans)

They don't pick high and largely stick with US/CAN players. They have a few swedes, but are mostly late round picks. Letourneau being their latest high pick will probably at best be a camp invite. Maybe in his 20 year old season.

Can we please fire this idiot now? I just can’t believe the state of our prospect pool under his “leadership”
I kinda don’t worry about it. I thought it was interesting they were the only team. Pelosi was a Final Cut and he seems to look like a future NHLer in some capacity. I’ve always been high on Lysell. Poitras is a lock. Lohrei learning on the job. It all works out.
