I'm not sure why it's garbage. If the coach is saying it publically, that means he's said it to him several times in private.

I'm going to cross post elsewhere because some might miss this.

Listen to Mark Divver's analysis of Merkulov and, especially, his pointed criticism of Lysell,

Sam Cosentino ( Sportsnet ) put out a list of 3 players to watch from each team in the upcoming World Junior Championship tournament and 2 Bruin picks made the list:

Matthew Poitras, C: Loaned to Team Canada at the last second by the Boston Bruins, Poitras had given his NHL club an unexpected boost through his first 27 games. With 13 NHL points in the bank, Poitras enters the event as the most tenured NHLer in the tournament. His success has been predicated on hard work and determination. He’s an incredibly smart player whose awareness allows him to avoid oncoming defenders, but also find teammates in traffic.

Dans Locmelis, C: A fourth-round pick of the Boston Bruins from the 2022 NHL Draft, Locmelis is the elder statesman for the Latvians. After developing in Sweden’s Lulea system, Locmelis now plays in the NCAA for UMass-Amherst, where he’s scored four goals and has five points in 12 games. This represents his third world juniors, and the seventh time he’s represented Latvia in IIHF play, including a stint with the men’s senior national team in the 2023 worlds. Look for Locmelis to take all of Latvia’s important faceoffs while anchoring the team’s top line.

Well.... not everyone is academically smart.

However, is he just not academically smart or is he just not interested in school work? Either way? Damn.

Just a question on a couple of former OHL players. Justin Brazeau is on the Providence roster. He is a huge 6'5" 245 pound forward that was dominated in junior that everyone wanted on their home team at the trade deadline. Played for North Bay Battalion. What are the chances he plays up on the Bruins some time in the future? Also goalie Michael DiPietro. One of the best junior goaltenders in the OHL over the last decade or so. Numbers look great in Providence. What would his chances be of moving up to the Bruins?

Brazeau's on an AHL contract and short of a miracle, will never play in the NHL due to his skating. None of his other skills are advanced enough to cover for his poor skating. I said the exact same thing about Joona Koppanen and he's played NHL games the past two seasons, so I'm probably an idiot, best ignored.

DiPietro has decisively stepped ahead of Keyser this season. Whether he takes another leap in the future remains to be seen.

Even then Koppanen is still probably a better skater and plays more of a grinding/defensively responsible game so he at least had an avenue to a cup of coffee. Brazeau isn’t exactly the type you can put on your 4th line from the little I’ve seen. Like you said I think it would take a miracle
