I`m asking not criticizing, who was the last NCAA player to make a really big impact on his club??

I know Krug is a guy who`s been a real nice addition to the B`s but I`m thinking more along the lines of a guy who is picked up, plays first line/first D pairing minutes etc....

you're talking straight free agent from NCAA? tyler bozak?

@MarkDivver: Peter Chiarelli says Boston has its eyes on 2 or 3 NCAA free agents who are still playing as of this weekend.

Hmmm....I'd imagine there are some who's seasons are over already that they are looking at too. Will be interesting to see if they sign any NCAA free agents.

Are you talking FA's or drafted players included as well?

Dekeyser is not a top pair, but he's pretty good. And Schultz is better than that if we are talking draftees.

Brian Ferlin scored Overtime goal in 1-0 OT win for Cornell to keep their season alive. Gothberg led North Dakota to the conference semis with a W tonight

I don't know where we would be without Krug, Smith, Bartkowski, Miller, and Chad Johnson this season...

very good player, he`d struggle to be the 4th line centerman here but he`s still a nice player
Bozak is way better than Campbell and likely better than Soderberg right now (although he seems to get better every game). 40pts in 45gms and can play both ends of the ice, ya we couldn't use a player like that. I love Campbell but don't compare him to a guy who's pretty close to being a legit top 6 forward.

Bozak plays with these two dudes Kessel and JVR, Soderberg's only constant linemate has been Chris Kelly. Honestly I think Soderberg is a better player, he's created more offensively on his own the last two weeks than Bozak has all season. Bozak is obviously a better player thab Campbell but his cap hit couldn't fit on the fourth line.

Looks like the Bruins HFBoards prospects need to be rejigged, surely Krug and Smith, let alone Hamilton, must have graduated from prospect status at this point?

McKenzie says Christian Folin from Umass Lowell is garnering interest from the Bruins, interesting.

I would LOVE to sign him, Oksanen, and Morrison. More than likely won't get all three, but that would really bolster our blueline depth/prospects (assuming that they would be sent down to Providence).

But from what I'm reading, it looks as though all three might stay another year or two at their respective schools.

Kirk Luedeke has a good article on first year Bruins prospects on bostonbruins.com. Features Seth Griffith and Anthony Camara and an update on Koko.

Not possible.

One. Or the other, perhaps. Landing both is completely unrealistic.

Do you mean getting both in the same year? I can see us getting Folin this year; but I think Oksanen is going to stay at BU for another year or so. His defensive game could use some work.

Just curious, but why would getting both Folin and Oksanen be completely unrealistic?

Because both are/will be in demand. Expecting Boston to get them both (regardless of when they are FAs) given the likely impact on the cap and the current situation on defense now and going forward doesn't make much sense unless you're just a complete fan/homer who isn't considering the economic realities of the modern NHL.

Do I really have to explain this?

If the Bruins get Folin that would be quiet a coup. I don't know much about him but he is Swedish, plays D, is in the Bruins backyard and my boss who is a season ticket holder and his wife (she is the director at UMass Lowell media) and others have told me they have seen Chiarelli, Sweeney, all the Boston boys at many recent games- gee, I wonder why they are there? I think he told me they were there last Friday night even- or one of my other friends who were at the game, but I remember as soon as I heard that it was likely why. Yah, they seem like they are tracking him pretty good.
