"Togetherness is most important. And that team had it. And that's why we had success in 1970 and ’72." – Milt Schmidt.

Although the center position is loaded with most of the best forwards ever, I consider Milt a top 20 center all time.

R.I.P to an amazing player and an even more amazing person. He's immortalized through the lore of not only Boston, but of hockey itself.

Milt did everything for the Bruins, he was simply one of a kind. The man who had the biggest impact on the Bruins and was from all accounts was an even better person.

On behalf of Habs fans, who know all too well how it feels when our heroes pass, may he rest in peace.

Not only a great Bruin, but a giant amongst men who left the game to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII.

Please see this story. Yes, there is rivalry between the Habs/Bruins, but also honour and respect that cannot be matched:

Sleep well sir!

From a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan

Wonderful story.

RIP to one of the very best.

Sad to hear this. When my father was alive, I remember him telling me stories about how he hated to love, or loved to hate this great player. RIP Mr. Schmidt and condolences to the Bruins family.

His contributions to hockey and specifically the Bruins are simply immeasurable. His contribution to mankind was extraordinary. An individual who gracefully and humbly earned the respect of so many from every walk of life. A standard that many in today's world could surely learn from and embrace to emulate.

Thank you sir for all you have given to so many. Rest in peace Mr. Schmidt.
