But at the same time a lot of Bruin fans think that Pastrnak will be THE GUY in a few years for our offense. I'm not putting down Slavin at all it's just that I'm really high on Pastrnak.

if that is the case then you should keep him, if you value a player higher than the other teams in the league it is difficult to get what you want for him

<30 points playing 7th most minutes Ev and an insignificant amount on special teams; sure sounds like a 3rd liner  I know he's young and can obviously improve but so is/can Slavin(who played #3 minutes last year ahead of even Hanifin).

You make it sound like pasta put up <30 point's over 82 games...his full season projection would make him arguably a 2nd liner. Now if injury concern was your argument that's one thing, but his points indicate better than third line imo.

It really just boils down to Slavin's current market value and value to the Canes being too far apart to deal him. Not a knock on Pastrnak at all, now just isn't the time to move him.

Purposely ignoring that he's only played 47 and 51 games or just don't know? He's played at a 20+G/40+ pace at the age of 18/19 while like you said, not getting prime offensive opportunities.

I'd take him over Slavin.

This thread once again shows people know nothing about Carolina. Slavin is damn good, better (by quite a bit) than Pastarnak in vacuum and especially if you consider the positions these two play. Canes would need to be dumb beyond belief to consider this.

Slavin is one of the most underrated players in the NHL right now. He won't fly under the radar for much longer. Don't worry, Canes fans, the Bruins fans and the rest of the NHL will understand the type of player Slavin is soon.

Pasta is a nice piece and will be a very good second liner, maybe even this year, but I think a good, steady, young #2/3 D is harder to get than decent second liners.

That said, Hall for Larsson happened, so who knows? :amazed:

Are you ignoring the fact that his average time on ice per game is 7th.
Slavin was in his rookie season playing tough minutes and put up 20 points in 60 games with less than a minute of PP time per game.
D>>>RW everyday all day

Then theres Lindholm and Spooner

Gee with all this vastly superior talent I guess Carolina should be a Stanley Cup contender this season.

As arguments go, that one is pretty juvenile. Columbus isn't going to be a contender this season, but that doesn't mean they'd trade Boone Jenner for a lesser player. The fact that some people believe that Pastrnak isn't good enough value to pry Slavin off the Canes doesn't mean they're arguing that the Canes are a contending team. There was a proposed trade. The Canes side didn't think it was fair value. That's it. Take a breath.

once again
if you value the guys more than us, dont make the trade

also, your above argument implies that you see boston as a stanley cup contender this season

I already stated the reason that I ( and most Bruin fans here ) would prefer keeping Pastrnak. Once again - nothing against Slavin it's just that I think Pastrnak is going to turn out to be a star player.

And I'd love to be wrong here but I'm fairly certain the Bruins won't be Stanley Cup contenders this season.

500 of Pastrnaks 670 minutes last year were spent with David Krejci on the top line, generally facing shutdown competition. He does often see his minutes cut defending leads in close games. Really not that uncommon for a player who's 18 or 19 years old playing in the NHL. Especially one who's on a team fighting for playoff position 95% of the season.

His individual P/60 over the past two seasons ranks 13th in the NHL among players with at least 1000 minutes played (5 on 5). Yes, small sample size, but again you are talking about a player in his 18 and 19 year old seasons. Scoring at better rate 5 on 5 than other 2014 draftees like Draisaitl, Larkin, Fabbri etc.

He's quite easily a top-6 player. I player I would not consider trading for anyone on that Carolina list. Part of that is probably a lack of knowledge on my part about the other players, but I also value Pastrnak to the point we better be talking the Ducks Hampus Lindholm if were discussing a package for a young D.

Oh you gotta be freakin kidding me, your way overvaluing Pastrnak, no way any team gives you a #1Dman for him, unless your adding a big plus.

Oh, I agree. But, thats the only deal where the Bruins would be hot and bothered to get it done. Is a deal like that out there? Most probably not. Pastrnak's offensive skills are top half 1st liner skills. Julien obviously had a hard on on two way play, and Pastrnak is growing into that, so his minutes have been limited as a teenager, but there is no doubt in Bruins fans minds that he is going to be a top 15 RW and soon.

Oh I totally understand that but what makes him more valuable than a young dman with top paring potential in Slavin?

People on this board have their untouchable players they need to just say, it would take an overpayment and leave it at that.

Bruins fans accuse Carolina fans of overrating their players. They then proceed to say that Pastrnak would only be traded for a D like Hampus Lindholm. The irony.

Carolina just needs to keep their young talent and let it develop. Makes no sense for the canes to trade away 4 young players at this time.....unless there is overpayment, which this is not.

We aren't trading those guys for younger pieces. Doesn't make sense with the current make up of the roster.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean in a 1 for 1 deal but that Pastrnak could be used as the main piece to get a guy like Lindholm, Fowler or Trouba. At least that's how most Bruin fans see it.

Imagine that, a 19 year old player was not given top 6mins on one of the best offense in the league (statistically). The fact he put up those numbers WITHOUT great pp time or prime minutes should show you he's clearly a top 6 forward.

That's great and most fans of other teams who don't have a bias, would completely disagree with you.

Since when did young top 6 wingers become as valuable as young top paring dmen?

Again one player looks like a top line winger the other like a top pairing dman, one of those is worth more than the other no?

Did you even bother reading my post before you responded???? I clearly said that Pastrnak would be used as " the main piece " in a deal to get back a top pairing blueliner. This means that there would be other pieces included therefore Pastrnak is not considered to be as valuable as a top pairing Defenseman. Man this thread is going to give me a freaking ulcer. :(

And I'm telling you that no Pastrnak could not be used as a main piece to get a top pairing dman. Especially a guy like Lindholm who has already proven himself far more than Pastrnak. Unless that main piece includes a BIG plus.

For gods sake the oilers had to give up Hall to get Larsson, did you forget that?
