Bruins trade David Pastrnak, Ryan Spooner, Rob O'Gara and 2nd round pick (2017)
Hurricanes trade Jaccob Slavin, Phillip Di Giuseppe, Elias Lindholm, and Joakim Nordstrom

Pointless trade for bruins. Ez pass from them.
Pasta. Spooner>>Car Package.
No need to add prospect +2nd

*2nd liner
<30 points playing 7th most minutes Ev and an insignificant amount on special teams; sure sounds like a 3rd liner  I know he's young and can obviously improve but so is/can Slavin(who played #3 minutes last year ahead of even Hanifin).

Brutal

boston would laugh

Let's put it this way, some canes fan think Slavin will be THE guy in the coming years for our defense. That says a lot when we have Faulk, Hanifin, Fleury, etc. In his rookie year, he just had IT, a well rounded Dman who can play 2nd to 1st pair time and not look out of place.

Not interested in trading Slavin for much of anything right now. He's too good, too young, too cheap. If Pastrnak turns into something like a 25-goal scorer next season, then we can talk.

Slavin is the most untouchable piece on the Canes for me. Followed closely by Aho and Hanifin. Easy no to OP.

Slavin is the next Josi/Brodie. Most fans won't know much about him and all of a sudden in a couple years he will be a top-15 D in the NHL. He starts the season on the 1st pair next to Faulk, pay attention to him the next time your team plays the Canes and you will see why.

This thread once again shows people know nothing about Carolina. Slavin is damn good, better (by quite a bit) than Pastarnak in vacuum and especially if you consider the positions these two play. Canes would need to be dumb beyond belief to consider this.

Not to derail things here but if the B's called the Canes it would probably be about Faulk. we have a fair amount of good LHD in the system about to come in Zboril, Lauzon, O'gara. Gryzcelyk... but the cupboard on the right side isn't as stocked.... McAvoy, Carlo.....

what would it take to pry Faulk out of there?

Canes don't have the RD depth to ship Faulk out, but it would take a young, established #1C.

From one New Englander to another, you can't get there from here...well, the B's can but it would require them to figure out how to get an elite under-25 1C from someone else to offer the Canes for Faulk.

So, unless they've got one stashed somewhere I don't know about...they're at-least one other trade away from making a credible Faulk offer.

The Canes would also need to find another top-4 RHD capable of playing top-pair minutes (top-pair time, not necessarily top-pair quality)...so they're also one trade away from doing this.

the canes respectfully say "no thank you"

the bruins say "would you like to counter?"

the canes say "the original offer was too far apart for us to consider countering"

the bruins say "oh, ok, well thank you, have a nice day!"

the canes say "you too!"

they hang up
