For those who watch players on other teams much more than I do, would Orlov be something like Seids? A heavy hitter like Seids was in 2011 would be amazing. I remember that awesome collision by Seids and Ovi, earthquake incoming.
his physical game is more like McAvoy. offensively he's more of a shooter

maybe Boychuk is a reasonable comp but more skill and less snarl

With this trade there is really no weakness in the Top 7 of the B's D corps. A lot like when they went out and got Seidenberg. A legit, 3 zone player that is B+ in just about every aspect of his game.

Carlo goes down, throw in Cliffy or Forbort. Lindholm goes down, Orlov can carry his pairing. Grzy goes down, throw in Orlov to run the pair and have mini Z play with Forbort safe minutes... Just 7+ deep now.

Hathaway can/will be our Clutterbuck. Guys like that are absolutely critical in the first and second round to get over the hump and hit to hurt the other guys. Remember the NYI series and how he and a few others wore down the B's.... He is a punk and a spot picker, but a guy like that (like Wood in NJ) can be key in a long series as long as he can stay at the threshold of the limit. Heavy on the body, heavy on the puck, and good enough to keep heads on a swivel and wear people down. It's not like he is Cooke or Torres material even if many would have full merit in disliking him. Unfortunately to win in the playoffs as we saw against the Blues, you need a guy like that to punk people because if you don't do it first, you'll be on the other end when the refs put the whistles away....
Totally agree. Should we end up facing the Leafs at any point, there's no better way to neutralize a Marner or Nylander than having that threat of physicality.

I will need time with Hathaway... but he sure brings toughness. But I disliked his predatory style!
As per Orlov, me think it's a nice pick.
Sorry for Smith, thought he brings alot of energy to the game without having the result associated with that energy, seemed like a real nice guy and good teammates, unfortunately his days were counted in the stand, here on HF and on the Boston team.

BTW, what a whiny fella Jarmo is. He didn't want to help to
consummate the deal and knew that either party could walk away but assumed
that Sweeney would take a loss on Smith (and another cap hit) just to get his RENTAL here.

I voted "like it." I could upgrade that, depending on how Hathaway plays, but Orlov is the centerpiece of this deal, and I like his addition. It really does give us some incredible depth. Fingers crossed.

I really feel like the Bruins are going all-in.

Even if they fall short, at least I won’t feel like management didn’t try their best.

I could live with that.

NOW GO OUT THERE AND WIN THE @&$@&$@! CUP!!!
This is how I feel as well. If they don't go all the way then its on the players because management has done just about everything they could have done this season.

This is why Chychrun is still in the desert too. Everyone is trying to overprice their players. There needs to be a fine line and a happy medium.
Chychrun and Gavrikov the next time their GMs call them into their offices:

Lol...A kid in a candy store.

Is Mazz suspended....?
Not sure. I listened for a bit but the dumbass calls about a rap concert etc interfering with what was pretty good B's talk irritated me so I shut it off. Why would he be suspended?

He made a racist joke when Felger was down in New Orleans. They gave him a week off.

I love it when trades come out of nowhere. I know Hathaway was on a few folks' radar here (kind of hated him, but whatever, laundry), but I don't think I ever saw Orlov out there. It's hard not to be impressed with this one. The D is just unbelievably deep. If that's it, I'm fine if Sweeney stands pat. I would hope he is still trying to find a way to clear a mill or two for the bonus cushion (and sign a certain UFA to be), but he's done his job putting a contender together for sure.

It would be a stupid play by Monty to not play at least Hathaway tomorrow. The line juggling last game almost cost them 2 points.

I forgot about that. Never heard what the "joke" was but I did hear that he was in trouble. I only tuned in today for 15-20 minutes out of curiosity and when I realized that those two weren't on I wanted to see what they had to say about the B's. It was surprisingly better than I expected but alas their dumb-ass callers ruined the good (B's) vibe.
