Nosek getting close

Tomas Nosek, recovered from a fracture in his left foot sustained Jan. 19, joined the club for Wednesday’s full workout. The No. 4 pivot will not be in the lineup here, but Montgomery said he has a shot at drawing back into the order by the end of the trip …

EDMONTON — Taylor Hall, once a franchise cornerstone here for the Oilers, was some 2,500 miles southeast of the Spoked-B lineup when the Bruins took on the Oilers Monday night at Rogers Place.

Hall, 31, hindered by what coach Jim Montgomery described as a lower-body injury, returned to Boston from Vancouver, where on Saturday the Bruins pinned a 3-1 loss on the Canucks.

Hall also will not be in the lineup for Tuesday’s trip closer in Calgary, and it’s unknown if he’ll be ready to return for Thursday night’s Causeway St. matchup against the Sabres. The Bruins are expected to provide an update on the left winger’s condition late Thursday morning.

Based on the level of concern Montgomery expressed following the brief morning–of-game skate, the nature of Hall’s injury did not sound serious or long-term.

====================================================================

The Bruins lost Brad Marchand for much of the first period, after he left for the dressing room after only an 18-second shift. He came back late in the period and played his regular heavy load the rest of the night (total: 19:25).

According to Montgomery, Marchand suffered a “skate cut” above an ankle, likely in a collision with defenseman Darnell Nurse.

“He just had to get sutured, stitched up,” noted Montgomery.

Scary moment with 4:30 remaining in the third period: Patrice Bergeron was the victim of a Klim Kostin high stick, the blade of which opened a gash on Bergeron’s face, believed to be above the right eye.

Kostin went off with a 4:00 high-sticking penalty and Bergeron, after a brief respite, went right out to start the power play.

I'm confused (what's new about that?)- they don't consider Hall's injury to be serious or long term but he traveled back to Boston ahead of the team to have it looked at/treated, didn't play last night, won't play tonight and probably won't play Thursday.

What am I missing here?? :dunno:

I don't think that you are missing much. They knew that he was not going to be able to play in Edmonton and Calgary so they sent him back to get treatment on whatever the injury is. The treatment in Boston will be better than what he could get on the road.

I’m hoping for Charley Horse. They can take time but better than a lot of alternatives. It did not look knee on knee on replay and Foligno’s knee didn’t seem to buckle. Fingers crossed.
That's what it looked like on replay. Knee to thigh. They never ruled him out last night either just said he was unlikely to return which is a positive

Instead, the Bruins entered the third with a 2-1 lead. Another lesson in: yep, that’s hockey. They are now 33-0-2 when leading after the second period.

The period was all the worse for the Bruins when Nick Foligno, who scored his 10th goal of the season the night before in Edmonton, hobbled off the ice in obvious pain with two minutes left in the middle period. The rock-hard winger was belted along the wall by Nikita Zadorov and was barely able to remain upright and make it across the ice under his own power before disappearing down the runway.

Post-game, Montgomery had no update to offer on Foligno’s condition. He said that both Foligno and Taylor Hall (lower-body injury) would not be available for the game against Buffalo. A callup from Providence will be necessary. Foligno left the rink without the aid of crutches.

Hoping Foligno isn’t too serious, but aLTIR him and cheat the system like everyone else does . Return for playoffs. Go get a middle of the pack right winger to play with hall and I’d be happier then a pig in shit
