Clean hit to me.

I understand it being called but IMO the receiver has some responsibility. His elbow is extremely down.

Oh interference? I guess he wasn't eligible. In that case good call.

CHUD elevated before the hit to make the principal point of contact Compher's face. Probably should have been 2+10 esp in IIHF. I mean, if elbow is tucked but you jump so it's at nose level, it's not a clean hit.

This one is ramping up... first the Orlov hit, then McCabe shows a little truculence, then this one. Usually in a bronze game a team in the USA position would lay down. But that's not the American way...

For what? Even the interference call was a bit harsh, I don't think there was a checking to the head penalty too, just a big full body hit.

It was a head-shot. Clear as day.

Oh and nice to see Telegin playing with a broken ankle, what a trooper! :sarcasm:

Matthews wasn't very good that period, forcing passes in the first powerplay and a couple of turnovers on the second one.

Hope he gets the jitters out for the second period.

Interference has nothing to do with head shots. Interference = hitting someone who's not eligible to be hit, even with a clean hit.

He had his elbow low and his forearm still hit the head. Sudden movement. That's the receiver's mistake. No head shot.

That was a great/perfectly placed shot...mighta beat anyone

I feel like he should have even tried to do more for the second goal. It was easy to read, he should have went further out and he'd have been able to cover it. The first one just went right through him, however. Like he warped time and space.

Yeah, expect it didn't happen, he kept his stance and checked him with his full body.

IIHF 124.IV said:
A penalty for checking to the head or neck will be assessed if one of
the following occurs when a player checks an opponent:
1. The skater directs a hit with any part of his body or equipment to
the head or neck of an opponent;
2. The skater drives or forces the head of an opponent into the
protective glass or boards by using any part of his upper body;
79
3. The skater extends and directs any part of his upper body to
make contact with the head or neck of an opponent;
4. The skater extends his body upward or outward in order to reach
his opponent or uses any part of the upper body to make contact
with an opponent’s head or neck;
5. The skater jumps (leaves his skates) to deliver a blow to the head
or neck of an opponent.
None of these happened, the player was OK, so get over with it. Russia-hating train is strong, like always on HF :laugh:

Team USA doesn't have their typical speed today. Short turnaround after losing yesterday probably a factor in that. Poor goaltending and some tired legs will make it really hard to come back

Geez Luise ...u can't legally put ur arm up that high and make contact/target head
