This team Russia's offense looks exactly as impotent as team Russia from 2008 junior superseries against Canada. What the heck is this even? I do not see any sort of hockey IQ in their attack. It is a string of useless energy wasting moves and horrible shot selection.

Finnish is phonetic, the only thing that's not pronounced phonetically is ng which uses the ng sound instead of n and g(as in "lunge").

When I finally make it to Finland... I will need a Finnish guide as in person not a damn translation App or Book...

Mexican spanish... can do... don't ever think I could get a handle on signs and menu's in Finland...

I see you have a lot of KHL players on this roster...

Are they getting enough ice-time and I mean in game.... ?

It is Larionov's "puck control" - slow exit from the zone, slow entry, nobody in the paint, shot selection. Kids would have played better without this coach, on their own.

Oh it's a paradigm... and on short notice in introduction like it sounds like it has happened...

Their pro-coaches probably ask them to keep it simple... do their 30 to 45 seconds and get off the ice...

Sort of like Paul Maurice in Winnipeg... :sarcasm:

I don't think the approach by Larionov is wrong, but you have to start teaching it in national team camps starting at 14 or 15 like Canada does regionally...

And it takes years to change mindset, buy in and proficiency ...

Our CHL major junior has elements of the keep it simple mentality... but Hockey Canada saves the day by having regular regional elite camps and tournaments with Hockey Canada coaches which ingrain the systems you have been seeing now for years... it's worked...

Finns get a dream start to the period. 19 more minutes of hard work and they get to go home somewhat satisfied. I'll be curious to see how they play with a lead for once.
