And Severson and Foote absolutely does not get you close. Are you kidding me? Severson is not the type of d the Canucks are looking for, and he is a UFA in 1.5 years. Foote is a potential bottom 6 forward.

An offer that would 'get the Devils close' is Holtz+2nd

Personally I’d prefer Severson and Foote over Holtz and a 2nd, if Severson doesn’t want to re-sign with Vancouver they could trade him at the deadline next year for a 1st and 2nd to a contender. To me it seems like poor asset management for Vancouver to take a prospect and lottery ticket over a top 4 D and middle 6 winger

I don't think Severson gets a 1st and a 2nd if we trade him.

The Devils are just a poor trade partner.
