still think you would trade Boeser over Garland?

55 - 20 - 28 - 48 (+/- 0) in 2023

it's good to have a new and improved healthy Brock back. That one timer was deadly last night
Before last night he’d scored one goal on a goalie in 8 games, surely the timing of this petty comment is coincidental though!

I much prefer he plays good instead of bad because I like it when we win, so I’m not complaining.

Petty comment WTF?? serious?

Just asked a simple question you could have just said you still prefer Garland?

And it's probably not even worth having this discussion given that even questioning your opinion is considered petty but are you telling me you get to arbitrarily take out stretches of games between 6 goals in 2 games?? Surely the context i added could have been a better take off point vs this kind of spot picking.

Feel free to not respond to my petty discourse

Not sure why you’re fixated on only goals. He has points in 8 of the 10 games the Canucks have played this season.

We should not count any of the points if it’s against teams like SJ, Edmonton. Also EN goals don’t count.

We have to look at his performance objectively ok?

Yes I’m sure there were no ulterior motives to your comment. You genuinely suddenly thought “I should ask Boligno if he still feels the same way he did the other week, completely unrelated to anything that happened last night.”

Ulterior motives?

I've been pretty supportive of Brock since last years resurgence. The motive is simple you created it when you argued against his results

No way in hell would i have chosen Garland over Boeser even before last year after his worst season. I've stated this and that i think people were underestimating his ability to bounce back once the shit show he's had to deal with could be put behind him.

Conversely some people including yourself have made strong statements choosing to slander or discredit or hold a bias over Brock and keep their stances. Spot picking statistics vs absorbing the new facts and offering concessions or at least even an argument for why you see him reverting back vs continuing to do what he's done now for over 55 games. Furhermore and even more importantly how he's trending this season

I'm genuinely curious after the production value and play he's had since the start of 2023 the implementation of Tocchet's identity/system and playing with Miller against teams top lines with success why or how this is the case and how would Garland fit better and be better money considering he hasn't meshed with either of Pettersson and Miller and makes 5 million?

Boeser is playing better than he has in years and has added to his game. He is going to the boards behind the net and getting in front of the net. And last game he got rewarded with a shot from his office at the top of the circle. The Canucks haven't played many good teams so far so let's see if Brock can do the things he is doing now against the best teams. At any rate it is good for the team and his trade value. If he can continue to play well and score then he will likely remain with Miller. Brock doesn't need to be a core player he needs to be good enough to play second line. Garland is better as a third line player than as Boeser will ever be. But I would trade Garland for salary cap space before BB.

I still dont consider him as a core player.

Lets not get fooled by a good start here. He is getting prime opportunity to succeed.

He doesnt drive the play enough, nor is he great at finishing to keep.

He needs to be a 40+ goal guy to keep. Kuzmenko basically made him irrelevant.
Every star in the NHL gets out in a position to succeed. Opportunity with out execution is a problem, but if the guy delivers, he still gets the credit.

The NHL is a league that it’s hard to score, Kuzmenko gives us scoring depth and in no way makes Boeser irrelevant.

For salary cap space yes, I only trade Boeser if it leads to a stud RHD coming back in return at this point. The RHD needs to be age appropriate and under contract as well, that’s how well Brock has played.

Remember when 90% of this board said Brock was useless and the contract was a catastrophe?

Same posters are awfully quiet now… almost like players on a down year can bounce back!

Most people here don’t know sh!t and it shows.

Down year? Guy was regressing year over year. Thats what it felt like anyway…

I like Boeser, probably the guy I root for the most in the team, but I thought he was cooked in the end. Im pumped for this start to the season, and hopefully he can keep going.

That slap shot yesterday was his best shot in the last few seasons from what i can remember anyway.

You missed the part where he was our best forward in the North Division?

Perhaps you skipped a year in life?

What year was that?
2021? That was his best season as a Canuck and wasn’t that long ago. He had an alright year in 2022.

Last year he was going through injuries and personal struggles (still had 55 points in 74 games) - a lot of players had down years.

It’s really not surprising that Brock would bounce back. He’s shown great chemistry with Miller and is still a great offensive weapon on PP1.

that is probably a good year to forget. Would be good to see him over 30 goal pace again.
