So has anyone been watching BPT enough to tell whether Pulock is in good enough shape to contribute to the big club? Still feel there's a chance he could be an X-factor.

I have said it before Pulock`s offensive game is NHL ready and his dgame has made huge strides. There is almost zero chance he starts in the AHL next season. If the Islanders get locked into their position for the playoffs I would no doubt use both kids.

Wow, that's quite an endorsement coming from you.

Is his shot really that legit? A lot of guys can thump it, but he seems to be quite accurate with it which is what makes me salivate.

From what I have read and based on the stats Collberg is a lost cause. Chalk it up to another horrible trade by Snow.

Not putting any eggs in that basket, but saw a lot of Collberg at U18s and U20s, where he technically has as many accolades and more points than Filip Forsberg. Clearly different players though, cause Collberg has always been a frail player who just hasn't had the body to be moving around much in traffic.

He's got talent - a good bit of it in fact. I just never thought he had enough speed or the body to see all that come to fruition at the NHL level.

A few years ago, I felt de Haan was our 'cherry on top' prospect, in that maybe he'd help out at some point if his body could just somehow hold up. I'm thinking Collberg is that guy now.

Ness will be a lifetime Tiger and probably coach them one day.

We'll see Ness in Europe before too long...

My point finally is where does Kevin Czuczman fit in here? I will not pretend to know every move these guys make. When we signed him at the end of last year he got a dozen or so games on Long Island. Probably the reason he signed with us. He is a little older than the ones we have drafted and are counting on to move up to the big leagues in the coming seasons. I personally don't feel he was
Bad. Ok very bad. I know he has been moved around from Stockton ,Florida , and the Tigers.
Does he have a future with the isles or not? Has he regressed?

He's really given no indication that he's on his way to an NHL future. None this season. If there was a year where the AHL club desperately had opportunity for a guy like him to step up to the plate, it was this one. Haven't seen anything from him.

Not sure if he has another season on his contract. Thought it was just two years.

If that's true, I want to see him NOW on the third pairing and triggering the PP. He can't be worse in his own zone than Donovan or Strait.

Red bull the last thing Dalcolle needs work on is his shot. His wrister is elite and the best I've seen in quite a while.

His shot is very good, pretty accurate and the most important part is that it gets through traffic. Yet I notice that sometimes the seas part on the power play when he winds up. He gets the shot off pretty rapidly and I would like to see the time difference in the NHL based on quicker and better players. I have a feeling next year he play himself into top 4 minutes. He has the speed to cut guys off outside and the hockey sense to annoy the opponent.
I feel as though he is Vishnovsky`s replacement as soon as next season.

It's great to hear how much Pulock has developed. There were questions about his skating and defensive game when we drafted him. A role on the 3rd pairing and PP specialist on the Isles is definitely there for the taking if Visnovsky is indeed gone after this season.

Reinhart-Pulock seems like a great complementary fit in the future.

I'm not sure it would happen by the beginning of the season next year, but I'd love to see something like this sometime towards the end of the season...

Leddy-Boychuk - our top pairing and they have wonderful chemistry already
Reinhart-Hamonic - our shutdown pairing, heavy emphasis on playing smart, defensive hockey
CdH-Pulock - offensive flair and puck moving ability that can be used as the 3rd pairing

Ideally, I'd want CdH-Hamonic and Reinhart-Pulock. I don't think pairing two rookies together at the NHL level is all that wise.

Where's Hickey? Either traded or he's our #7.

How is Pulock's physical game? He seems to be built solidly - does he like contact? Does he have a mean streak or is he more of a subtly physical guy like Reinhart?

He does not shy away from contact but I have only seen him mad a couple times so I will say his mean streak is nowhere to be found. He seems to think the game at a high level you can see him try and make plays only confident dmen make. Like a stretch pass through a dman or a chip pass under duress of 2 opposing players. Yet when he gets to the NHL its a different and faster animal. I think like every dman he will have his good and bad nights.

PWJunior, When it comes to next season it would not surprise me if one of CDH or Hickey were traded (again not advocating a trade). IMO Dehaan has much higher value and ceiling but I would rather see Hickey and Reinhart together , not sure why exactly but they both make the solid play.
The Isles will need to make some decisions on the D and upfront in the offseason. The Isles have an embarrassment of riches in your players presently and its going to be interesting to see what they do.

I think he is listed at 6'2" 212 so he is not a smurf. The question about physicality should not be nastiness. The question is can he win board battles, is he song enough not to be pushed off the puck and able to clear firmly, to be able to absorb hits and still keep the puck.

He was stocky coming into the draft and regarded as having man strength already. It was his footspeed and defensive zone play (as you've mentioned) that scouts have questioned and I even think those concerns began to be blown out of proportion because scouts saw him a whole extra year in the Dub because of his late birthday.

You're mistaken. Not his footspeed, specifically his mobility. His lateral movement and ability to change direction in particular. His straightforward speed was never in question.

His defensive reads/smarts were also falling behind other kids who had caught up and surpassed him, such as Josh Morrissey.

You probably have a better read on this than me, but maybe the lateral movement issue (typically required of a d-man) is a result of his fairly late switch from F to D. Right now, I don't recall when he switched, but I remember hearing when he was drafted that he was originally a forward.

:dunno: Worked well for Carlson and Alzner down in DC.

As a 3rd pair, I don't have much issue with a Reinhart-Pulock pairing next year. I just don't know if the coaching staff knows how to shelter them and maximize their full potential.

I would expect another healthy dose of them sitting in favor of Strait and Hickey, our Norris candidates in the eyes of Capuano.

Reinhart -Pulock.

I'd prefer that over Hickey and Strait as a third pair. Pulock could also start out on the 2ndPP point with that cannon.

Those Pairings are also perfectly balanced left and right handed shots.

That's how I have it as well, but judging how Capuano likes to screw around with the blue line pairs during the season... be prepared for a very healthy dose of Hickey and Strait next year while our vaunted kids shuffle in and out of the lineup.

Try getting Hickey or Visnovsky back as the healthy scratch / #7 for next season.

Either one of them are better then Strait.

A few things:
- Wouldn't be surprised in the least if Visnovsky is re-upped for another season as a 40-55 game player who'll still contribute 10-15 PP points.
- Hickey will likely seek and command 2.5 mil per. Someone will likely give it to him. Dunno if it's the Isles, but if he's affordable and doesn't want 'years' right away, then he's a very good guy to have around.
- Love him or hate him, not many teams have a #7 like Strait who you can so easily plug in and out of the line-up. Every team needs several guys like that.
- I think he needs one more complete year of AHL hockey, but Mayfield is going to be everything Snow had HOPED Carkner would be, when he signed him. #6/7 Dman with narl and bite. In addition, he's long been a better skater. The ability to fight better will come. Gonna be a nice kid to have hanging around in the capacity Strait currently is.
