Is it Skarek, poor D, poor system or just a bad team?
For 2 periods the Sound Tigers were terrific. Played most of the game in the Wolfpack end. Hartford scored 30 seconds into the 3rd to make it 2-2 and then the Tigers melted down. Gave up 4 goals on 11 shots. Skarek couldn’t make a save, a blocked Pack shot rebounds to an open man, gave up a PPG and that was all she wrote. Bad team is all I can say.

Kept one eye on the game and they looked good until the equaliser. Just fell apart after that
Basically this.

After Hartford tied it the Sound Tigers got caught standing around and watching for the next 6-7 minutes while Hartford scored 3 more.

Do I dare ask how Holmstrom was? Lou pulling this kid outta nowhere into a first round selection has to pay off for us and would like to see him start to make the climb this year.

I watched about half the game and, frankly, did not see anything in Holmstom’s game that would have made me think of him as a 1st round pick. This is really a pretty bad team, largely bereft of legit NHL talent. Perhaps Bolduc and Wilde have NHL skills but they’re a long way off from the big leagues. The Isles also need some high end goaltending prospects. I can’t remember seeing Skarek make anything other than routine saves. Literally every tough, high danger opportunity went past him.

On the other hand, unfortunately, I found a few of the Rangers prospects to be very noticeable. The young defenseman Reunanen, looked very good as did both Barron and Cuylle.

Honestly in both games one of the positives in Holmstrom’s game was the way he worked along the boards, seems bigger kid than advertised and isn’t afraid of corner work. He also is lanky and raw but there is ability. I also think both Wotherspoon and MVS can be depth D for us this year.

In light of this only being a 24-game schedule, I really don't see any reason other than injury, horrendous play, or direct disobedience to prevent any of Hutton, Wilde, Bolduc, Vande Sompel or Wotherspoon from being in the line-up at all times. That guys like MacKinnon or even vet Helgeson are in that line-up instead of a Wilde or Hutton is beyond me at this point, but maybe there are slight injury issues we don't really know about. But those five Dmen need every friggin minute they can get.

Skarek should be there too, whatever the capacity.

Up front, the names Holmstrom, Greer, Jobst, and Carpenter should be in the line-up at all times and ideally you're suiting up Coskey, Bibeau, Durandeau, and Jenkins (as long as he doesn't get reassigned to the OHL should things get going on that front) as well. These are guys you drafted, traded for or signed as prospects out of college, and you simply have to get as good a read on them as possible in this waste of a season.

Looking at the contract situation, you kind of want to be giving MacLean and Neumann as good a look as possible as well. Pastujov is actually probably more suited for the ECHL, but that option is kind of off the table.

I have no problem with the team just keeping Hickey and Ladd out of things. There ain't enough time and space to be wasting minutes on them until some injuries set in. I have no problem with Kuhnhackl getting a spot, as we know that he's at least a solid depth option for the taxi squad if some injuries pile up on the Island. Granted, it's kind of interesting and not really fully understandable why these German guys like Kuhnhackl and Seidenberg hang around the team and just stick in the area, but whatever floats their boats.

I don't really care about the wins and losses. Sure, it'd be better if the team is winning, but this little 3-team round robin needs to be used purely for development.

And the most important prospects need to be seeing the important minutes, whether they're ready for them or not (but they should be). They need them for personal development and they need them so that the club can decide to keep them in the program or not.

with the taxi squad rotation - should the team consider sending Otto back to Bridgeport to get some games in?

maybe bring up Kuhnackl and send down Otto.

Good point!

And probably what they'd ideally be thinking. I just dunno if they can give Kuhnhackl an "NHL" contract right now. Word is, he's on an AHL contract right now.

But certainly - Otto is wasting away on a taxi squad that is sufficiently filled for the way the players are being made use of.

Just saw the highlights of the 5-2 loss.

Those goals against were BRUTAL.

And Skarek really looked some kind of beatable for the first 3.

Here's another guy who may end up in BPort...
Örebro bryter med Ho-Sang – efter fem matcher

It only lasted 5 games in Sweden.
I’d like to see him back at Bridgeport and play out the season.

He has lost so much time in the last 2 years - trade request, sitting out, pandemic, no training camp, waiting on visas as well as his own bad habits.

he is signed- bring him back and play him. I hope there is a chapter of redemption to this Ho-Sang story, but that hope gets dimmer and dimmer.
