question on Brian Boyle... explain how does a guy that is 6'7 over 230 pounds get outmuscled by players that are much smaller than him?? not talking about speed here.... Brian Boyle must be the weakest player for his size....:help:
He and Pyatt are competing against each other for the Marshmallow Of The Year award

My favorite part was when he somehow ****ed up negating that icing last night. He can't be THAT slow

I was at the game and was in shock. He had a huge lead against all the Leafs and somehow didn't take a direct line to the puck. Add to that, 4 Leafs somehow got there first

Dumb & slow can't do justice to how bad a play that was.

Boyle speaks!

“@BriBrows22: Great win last night! Sleeping better now. Had allergic reaction last week. Thanks for the concern, though! #blownoutofproportionâ€

I think it would take 5 Nash penalties to equal one Boyle penalty.

You'd swear he committed a human rights abuse.
You've inspired an art project from me.

Once again, -31- continues to be like, my favorite poster ever.

Also in response to the tweet Nevesis shared....lame. I thought he had like reverse narcolepsy or something with the way they described it.

It's sad really. The guy gives it his all and the 'fans' hate him. The real 'useless' people are the armchair GM's and coaches.

:laugh::handclap:

Not shocking however to be honest. I think it is safe to say every team's elite talents get a pass before their depth players. Overreactions be damned.

this further compounds why i rarely ever venture into threads about boyle.

hes 6 foot 7 but doesnt play like it...old news
he couldn't successfully dangle a piece of meat in front of a hungry lion.....old news
he doesn't produce offensively.....old news

he plays solid defense especially on the pk and is great in the faceoff circle, which is EXACTLY what a bottom 6 center should do. Some peoples expectations of this guy are absolutely absurd and the repetitive bashing of elements of his game that will probably never change is getting really annoying.

That must be it.

You can't make this **** up.

Boyle is not really soft. He leads our team in hits--he's even ahead of Callahan. He's usually a good pk'er and better than average on face-offs. Saying that he's not been very effective. A non-factor offensively and prone to throwing the puck away. He has played better since getting moved to wing.

That must be it.

LOL!

Someone complaining about Boyle during the Powe penalty.

Edit: Also this isn't really a fair comparison because Powe isn't put in to situations people feel (justified or not) he is not meant for, or will fail at. If Powe was getting regular PP minutes I think people would develop an adverse reaction to him as well.

I really do not think people hate Boyle just because they want to hate Boyle. There are reasons they hate him, it's more a matter of whether or not those reasons are factual, exaggerated, or irrational.

He leads Callahan in hits by only 5.15%.

He leads Callahan in height by 11.27%.

The "man" is a disease.

...and he has 12 minors in 36 games played but according to HFNYR he takes dumb penalties all the time

And just in case anyone was wondering, that was not selective, there was actually only one post acknowledging the Powe penalty.

They tried giving Powe PP minutes and he somehow shot the puck over an open net from the goal line .

I can see your point, but if that's the case, the anger is misdirected.

I agree with that. At times most players on the team get irrational hatred or criticism, but Boyle certainly receives more of it by far, and unfairly.

-31- :handclap:

Time to take the hater glasses of people! Yes, he is a big guy that can't fight, live with it. But he is also a great faceoff guy, good on PK, plays hard and is a great locker room guy. And never complains.

hahah, great timing by me.

Everything you said is correct.

I really don't understand the Boyle hate. Never have, and probably never will.

He's a great guy to have in the bottom-6.

Most people get worked up over Boyle's penalties because of their timing, not so much for the amount of penalties he takes. In some games it takes the Rangers quite a while to get going. I remember a couple times where they finally get some momentum and Boyle took a stupid penalty.

For the record, I have no problem with Boyle. He has been better lately and does pretty much exactly what he ask of him. If he chipped in more offensively it would just be a bonus. I just wanted to give my input on the whole penalty situation.
