Recalled/Assigned: Brennan Othmann recalled from Hartford

Hoping we see:

20-93-17
10-16-13
50-22-78
21-12-26

and 78 on PP2 on the RW half wall, same spot he has in Hartford. Throw Cuylle netfront and Brodz in the bumper, and let Laf and Gus man the points.

That said, I'd still temper expectations as his skating will still hold him back and he doesn't have man strength yet, but his reads have been getting better, his release is good, and his playmaking/passing ability is solid. He likely won't stay, but for a first cup of coffee it'd be nice to see him used in more of a scoring role.

Putting Brodz on his line also will help Cuylle and Othmann's ice time since with Bonino centering the third line they rest after PK's and PP's (with Bonino/PK and Brodz/PP on the line), which has really killed Cuylle's ice time.

Goodrow and Bonino need to be the lesser used forwards, not Cuylle.

To be fair, everyone thought this.

Look at what Button said about Kravtsov if you really wanna never trust him again.

My favourite Button moment was when he called Alexander Holtz a "potential world class LW" when he played RW all season long except for the WJC where he was on the left with Raymond at RW.

These "experts" never watch league hockey for EU prospects, man.

Yeah, the reality is for many in North America, streaming games from European leagues isn't really a (legal) option. And I doubt professionals like Button are setting up VPNs to watch guys in Allsvenskan or the Slovak Extraliga, you know? I know they can and do talk to scouts but the firsthand knowledge is...dubious, in a lot of cases.

I want to see more hustle, feet moving, and hits from Otter. Led the team with 5 SOG. Had a slick between the legs pass from behind the net. Not afraid to shoot and got his opportunities with good positioning.

I have to say, he looked more ready than I anticipated based on what I saw in Hartford. He clearly still needs to adapt to the speed of the game with respect to how quickly his shooting lanes will disappear, but otherwise he looked like a guy who has been there for a while.

I'm in the boat that if he already is showing what he did tonight, he's going to adjust really quickly.

Really impressed with his first outing. Fairly composed. Made an impact. The goals will come. I really hope they give him a fair shake with the big club. I've been excited to see him take this step for a while now. They just have to get him to believe.

When Kakko comes back just send down Brodzinski. Othmann should stay until he forces the Rangers to send him down.

Brodzinski needs to clear waivers to be sent back down. He'd get claimed. He's here for the rest of the season, IMO.

Othmann impressed tonight, but as this team gets healthy he will be sent back to Hartford and rightfully so. Whether that's in 1 week or 3 weeks from now, he definitely should go back to Hartford. Keep getting top line minutes/PP1 and continue to develop his game. No reason to rush him.

Othmann is already better than that bum Brodzinski. Who cares if someone claims Brodzinski on waivers… oh no Hartford lost there 30 year old career AHLer captain! They have Riley Nash down there and have been doing just fine without the great Brodzinski. Anisimov is now down there. Waiving Brodzinski to keep other better players is worth the risk of the cascade effect on Hartford and then some.
